Recommend a ball... not from your favorite company.
« on: January 09, 2005, 07:00:05 PM »
Most of us have a preferred ball company or two, with some models we really like.  But how about recommending a ball/s from a different company that you've thrown, in a way this is a gauge of that balls/s performance as it did get your attention..  Even if you were preferrential for another brand.

Brunswick Fuze Eliminator. Quite possibly the best ball I've ever thrown, period.

I throw exclusively Columbia, these days. I gave the ball away to my doubles partner, because he didn't have any equipment.

Usual brand(s) for me have been Storm and Track, but I've been converted through one ball to the ways of Dynothane through their Barrage. What a great control ball for light oil...

normally, I throw all columbia because Im a bit of a tweener with a lot of hand and slower ball speed....but recently Ive been having problems with my sliding knee so now I throw the ball harder with less hook and Ive found that a lot of storm stuff especially the triple X is great because they are great skid flip balls that work well with my reaction....I can play the lane longer and straighter and still get good flip..thanks

No secret that I'm a Storm Head and have gotten back into Dynothane equipment.  However, some balls out of other companies that have gotten my attention:

Ebonite V2 Sanded - Have had a few and they were all great!  Their new Xcel Pearl looks like a killer ball too.

Track Exception - Can't wait to see what this will do for me.

Brunswick Classic Zone - Seen some very postive things from this ball!

AMF Velocity - Only seen one thrown, but it was long and strong.

Columbia Backyard Bully - From what I've seen of the other 2 bullies this ball seems like the best of all worlds.  Eager to see this one on the lanes.

There are just so many good balls out there right now that a person could go nuts thinking about every toy they would like to try.  Hard part is that they keep coming out with new ones.

Am a storm guy. The original track rule is a great ball. I drilled one when they first come out and the ball rolls great.

I'd recommend some Ebonite stuff for the right person I guess but I'm always pushing Track when asked for my opinion.

You might want to take a look at Hammer's Big Block Diesel if reactive's what you're looking for- gets down the lane easily, lots of hook and hits like a tank.

Better yet, if there is a Hammer Challenge coming up in your area soon, spend the $10 or so and try it out- I went to one and fell in love with the BBD and the much-maligned Deal- both VERY similar reactions in my opinion. Either one of those is definitely my next ball!!!

Currently Columbia-300, but my doubles partner throws Storm's Flash Flood & Power Charge. If I were to buy a ball tomorrow it would probably be Brunswick's Impulse Zone or Ebonite's Game Time.
