I have a team mate that is coming off the worst season of his career (10 years). He is a cranker, and the only real success he has had is with a very old Storm Big Hit Solid. The stronger core balls seems to burn up on him and if they don't do that they roll out. He is frustrated, and we are frustrated with him. He tried a HyRoad, but that just didn't work at all. Very over under. Not sure what other specs I can provide, his ball speed is around 15mph at the pins, but I am out of ideas with respect to a solid coverstock and a weak core like the Big Hit had?

This sounds like more of a layout problem then equipment problem....or perhaps something in his game that needs to be adjusted? A Hyroad should be a cranker's dream.

Yeah we all thought the HyRoad would be the exact ticket for him, but it rolls out/burns up a lot on him. He is not consistent with his release or the reaction by any means, but he was much more confident with the Big Hit, so he is trying to find a similar ball to that one that would restore his "confidence" in his ability again.

No ball is going to restore confidence. If he has alot of footing/release/timing inconsistencies, learning new equipment is just only going to complicate things further.

Pin is 1/8" slightly above and to the right of his ring finger, the CG is 1.5" below the ring finger hole.

Give me a break!!! The problem boils down to the bowler and not the equipment. Most average bowlers only have an "A" game and hope that works for them every time they bowl and hope lane adjustments will keep their game consistent. Now-a-days bowlers have to learn how to adjust all aspects of their game and be more versatile. You need to now have a "B" and "C" game as in playing different lines, different hand positions, different ball speeds, lane adjustments, controlling rev rates, and etc... Bowlers need to stop blaming their bowling slumps on the equipment and take full personal responsibility for what they are not doing....PERIOD!

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean much. What he needs to find out is what those distances are from his PAP.
