recommendations for a heavy oil ball
« on: August 08, 2008, 04:14:23 PM »
Hey all, my friend is looking for a heavy oil ball, he throws about 14-15 mph. he wants the ball to read the mids early. Some balls that have been recommended to him are resurgence, Levrg, Demension. any others that you could recommended for him?

Almost impossible to find but if you can then InSite SuperNatural. Also a Fury solid works good in heavy oil.

I'm hoping notcruzin is not talking about an original Fury, those were pieces of crap. If he is talking about a Twisted Fury Solid, that could be a good choice because of his speed

I would normally recommend the LevRg hands down, but with his speed only 14-15 mph, even in heavy oil the LevRg may read a little too early.  I would say to also look at the Black Widow Bite.  It's a little higher rg (2.51) than the LevRg (2.48) and the Resurgence (2.47), so it will match up better to his game with his slower speed, or so it would seem.  It is hard to say for sure without actually seeing him throw the ball, but that would be my suggestion.  Good luck.

I love my Fury.  I use this as my benchmark ball and it covers a wide variety of conditions for me, from medium to medium-heavy.  I know many people didn't like it, but this ball works great for my game.  I wouldn't recommend it for true heavy oil, but it is a nice complimentary piece to have in your arsenal.

The original Fury works great for me on heavy oil. Have you had bad experiences with it?

Good call Big Willy alot of people shy away from Visionary in my area because of the size of the company.  I too love my Fury but not for heavy oil.  I would also say the Resurgence but some of the other options are the 900 Global Break S75 with some surface would be nice or the Ultimate Inferno.

I am going to have to go with the AMB Particle too.  You will be hard pressed to find a ball that works better on heavy.  Just make sure you watch to see if it starts reading the lane too early after about a game or so.  This ball is practically a cement block with a core thrown in it!!!!!

The Brunswick Copperhead excels on that for many bowlers. Very strong ball in the mid-price range.
