What's the hottest/newest urethane balls out now?
« on: December 01, 2009, 06:17:14 AM »
I see a decent number of PBA bowlers throwing urethane. What's some of the new stuff out there? I haven't been keeping on top of new equipment because I've been pretty much stuck with throwing plastic or old pink hammers at my local houses.

Where's the OIL?!!? =o)

Thanks,

Storm Natural
AMF Hype Urethane
Visionary Ogre Urethane
Seismic Desperado
Lane #1 Liberator
Brunswick Groove Urethane

It''s probably been a long time since there have been so many choices for Urethane balls.

everybody and their brother will say the Storm Natural...A select few will will stand behind the AMF Hype over the Natural.  It just has a stronger core (much better engin), I just got mine and will see just how it work on the burnt up stuff this weekend.

The other big ball on the block making noise is the Seismic Desperado.  From what I understand this ball is wicked strong. Not the cover but the core.  Talk to some of the 900 Global fanantics, being Seismic is kahoots with them somehow they might have the inside scoop on the new ball of the ages.

Welllll, he did say, "hottest" and/or "newest".
quote:

I''''d say these were the newest/hottest/best, in no particular order:
Storm Natural
AMF Hype Urethane
Visionary Ogre Urethane
Seismic Desperado

My 2 cents (In order of oil handling and overall hook, most to least, nwith the stock surface):
AMF Hype urethane
Seismic Desperado
Storm Natural
Visionary Ogre Urethane

quote:

Not so hot currently and not so new, but still available:
Lane #1 Liberator
Brunswick Groove Urethane

One other note, if I might ---
Don''''t forget that urethane does not act like resin when they are polished. Resins will conserve energy and the polished ball, under normal conditions, will get more length AND have much more backend. Polishing a urethane ball will get you more length and less overall hook and less overall backend. There might be a small increase in the backend, if any.

Oh, and urethanes are much harder to shine up but will appear smoother and will get more length. Test as you would normally. If you wait until you have a gloss polish on a urethane, you might find you have a spare ball.
