Regional Sponsorship
« on: March 26, 2009, 07:08:20 AM »
What does a regional sponsorship from a ball company consist of? Free equipment?  Entry fee assistance?

I noticed that some of the companies (namely Track) have a LOT of sponsored staff.  Many members of their staff (through quick Google/Bowl.com searches) don't seem like very accomplished bowlers.

Most of them run/own pro shops.  As a ball rep I'd want people throwing my equipment that have the most opportunity to put bowling balls in people's hands.

I was on staff with Storm from 2004 to 2005, during that time I bowled regionals, but was marginally successful at best.  The reason I was on staff is because I was running a $150,000/yr pro shop and about 1/2 of my sales were Storm products.

As far as a regional contracts they usually consist of a couple of each new release, and a certain amount of addtl stuff during the year.  I don't know of regional staff contracts helping with entry fees or travel.....even the national guys don't get paid with a few exceptions.
