Regrets.
« on: September 12, 2004, 03:31:18 PM »
I spent a good amount of money within the past couple weeks on epuipment.  New shoes and a couple of bowling balls.  I'm happy with everything, it's just that I'm thinking now, was it such a good idea to buy these things right now.  Especially the shoes, spent a nice amount, but it was still cheaper than what I've seen them for. I don't necessarily have any regrets, I guess that after totaling up everything,(bought the shoes today), I'm left thinking like WOW, I really need to win some pots and recoop this $$$.  Do any of you go through this after the purchase has been made on bowling equipment?  I really needed these things, I probably should've just taken my time in getting them.

My philosophy has been that the equipment has to pay for itself. I bought a bunch of stuff in late April - that came from the money from the leagues at the end of the year.
If I win a tournament, I can buy new stuff.
that way, I don't feel guilty later.

I just bought a Track Animal 2 weeks ago.  I was like...man, I just spent like $400 on a bowling ball.  The ball is excellent but I keep on thinking to myself, "why did I spend so much money on a ball?!??!"  I'm very happy with the Animal, but now I want a Track Rule!  I know that if I get another ball, I'm gonna love it, but I'll be like "why did I spend so much money on yet another ball!??!"

I like the concept of winning tournaments to get money so you can buy bowling equipment or w/e, but being a juniour, the money won is scholarship money and it cannot be converted to cash to pay for bowling equipment.  I don't really know what to think, however I do feel 'regret' after spending so much money on just a bowling ball!

$400 for an animal????

dude, shop around!!!

seen some on ebay tonight for $99 buy it now plus shipping!!

anyway, as long as the bills are paid, there's food on the table, and clothes on my families back, then i have no regrets about a new ball purchase. Most of my "new" ball purchases are used balls from members here on ballreviews, or bought on ebay!! Just picked up a freak on ebay with 6 games on it for $17!!

Stuff here in Canada's expensive....$270 for a bowling ball plus $60 drilling plus $30 inserts and thumb slug plus 15% tax.  Even if I buy a bowling ball online from the USA, it'll still be just as expensive because of customs duties and various stuff.  $140USD(assuming $120ball+$20shipping) = $190 CAD + 50% more because of gay Canadian import stuff (ie. tarrifs, customs duties, provincial(state) tax, goods and services tax, brokerage) = $285 CAD.

For example, I bought a K&R 2 ball roller for $36 USD.  To actually receive the roller...I paid a total of $120 CAD.  I don't know why the Canadian government and policies have to ruin everything.....

$400 for an Animal?

TellyawhatI'mgonnado, for $395, I'll drive to your doorstep, take you bowling at two different houses, and drill you the ball of your choice.

Rev_O's correct.  You can come across some great deals here or on eBay that will help make the next ball purchase an easier transition.  Even if you're saddled with a $50+ charge for drilling, you'll be money ahead.  There are plenty of proshops around this site that would be happy to earn your business, as well.  Give them your measurements, typical lane conditions, and desired ball reaction, and you'll(most likely) be very happy with your purchase.

LOL!  Buying things here in Canada is the worst thing, EVER!  2L bottle of Pepsi from a Wal-mart in the USA costs $1-1.50.  A 591mL bottle of Pepsi from a vending machine in Canada costs $2.00....like, need I say more?

OMG! You mean you actually are willing to ship to Canada? After that whole McGutterball incident it was beginning to seem like we Canadians had been labelled as thieves and nobody would ship to Canada anymore. You may be getting some business from me in the future! (Depending on what you're selling of course )

I was going to buy a new ball, but my missus has made me wait till I (hopefully) win the league before I can buy anything.... doh

Gives me a bit of incentive though, there are only 3 matches left, And I've got to do well in them all, hmmm, It is possible.

icetink however a 2L pepsi from dominion will cost u about $1.50.  Those small bottles are always more expensive than a 2L if u buy it from a vending machine.  Where did u buy the ball?
