Final thoughts on my first season back
« on: April 03, 2009, 07:03:51 AM »
Well after taking 5 years off from bowling I did choose to make a comback this year.  The season really started pretty rough.  I don't think I hit 600 until about the 7th week.  I used to average anywhere from 208-213.

Anyway I started the season with all of my old equipment (Ebonite V2 Particle and Ebonite Vortex Afterburner).  I should of had them resurfaced but I never did.

I decided at about the 5th week I will get new ball.  I decided on the Playmaker as it had the V2 core which I seemed to match up well with.  Had it drilled pin under the middle finger and CG kicked out right a tad bit.  This was a little more ball than I thought it would be but I managed to get used to it after a couple of weeks.

The scratch league I bowl in has 2 division for average.  The league secretary and President randomly select a week between weeks 12 and 16.  They then take the amount of bowlers and cut it in half.  The top half being class A and bottom being class B.  I was placed in to class B with a 199 at the time.

Then the weather started getting colder and the oil would hold longer.  That's when the average started to climb.  Over the last 11 weeks of the season I have averaged 227 and have climbed from 9th place in Class B up to leading the class with 209.

So as the season ends I must say I am very pleased averaging 209 after not bowling for 5 years.  I did manage to have a high triple of 741 this year and high game of 268.  These scores aren't as high as alot of people on here but I really don't care as I only bowl once a week (3 games).  I just looked at it as night out just to have some fun.

The time off really made me enjoy the game for what is.  This is probably the first season I have never even gotten mad over bowling.

In closing I am looking forward to next year.  I will just bowl once a week again as we have a new additon expected some time in September   I am sure once the baby comes my life and bowling game will again change forever.  Until next season happy bowling and summer to everyone.
