Etonic Bowling Shoes
« on: September 21, 2012, 02:03:15 PM »
Hi,

Has anyone tried the Etonic E-Tour Master bowling shoes?  If so, what were your thoughts?  Did they run large, small.  Did you like their 3 pad slide system and heels?  Were they light, comfortable?

Anyone?

Thanks,

Drew

I was so excited to get mine until I tried them on. First thing I notices was they were narrower then I was used to, since I had dexters. I still have them a shot though. After roughly 2weeks of use, the tip of my trailing foot was peeling back from my drag. I never had any problems with Dexters in this area. Well, I turned them in for exchange on new SST8s. I personally like the dexters much better. They may not look as classy as the Etonics, but as far as comfort, I'd go Dexters.

Thanks for the reply.  When I first started I used Dexters, I went through what seemed like a pair every half season.  Stitching would tear.  The inside vinyl would rip by the heel.  The velcro would become worn if I switched pads a lot. Etc.  I gave up and tried Dynarooz.  They have lasted me almost 5 years.  I am on my third toe cap.  I was thinking of trying something new, and really don't want Dexters.  I am sure lots of people out there have had positive experiences with Dexter, but I haven't.

The Etonics look nice, but there isn't a pro shop in town worth a lick to shop from.  The fact that they might run narrow could be an issue, and if the toe wears out from dragging, then they are definitely not for me.

Thanks again.

bought a pair last spring and i agree that they are much narrower than others. my dynorooz were a much better shoe and definitely more comfortable. also i was dissapointed that the etonics only came with the shoes and soles. sst8's and dynorooz came with shoe bag, covers, shape inserts as well as the soles. not a horrible shoe, just not the best shoe.

I have the sst8's put a lot of games on them in the 2+ years Ive had them and have to report that they are still in impressive shape and very much comfortable. I have seen dexters fall apart in the manor described above. But they were all in the lesser shoe, in lesser i mean anything but the sst line. My friend got the Etonic tour masters and they seem like a cheaply made shoe. They are light but feel flimsy and thin. He has had several problems with the heals on his slide foot and is always hinting at replacing them. I would look in to the SST line or the 3G's. Other friend absolutely loves his 3G's, he explains there way softer and more comfortable then his SST8's.  He also said that the sst8s lacked flexibility.

I've been wearing E-Tour Masters for over a year now and think they are great.  Lighter than the SSTs, and yes a little more narrow.

Just out of curiosity, which heel do you use?  I like to have a non-rubber heel, so I can slide.  The heels that are rubber and break, always mess up my slide.  I read one review that said the felt heel still had rubber on it, and kept grabbing.  Any experience with that?

The issues I had with Dexter were with the SST line, but like I said earlier, I've had Dynarooz for about 5 years now.  So maybe I was using the SST 4's and 5's?

I honestly don't, I used the red alligator heel (not sure the number).  I don't change soles very often at all, and have had great performance from them overall.

Don't have much of a reply to this drew! I haven't seen nor experienced the sst line failing like that! To be completely honest though if you like the dynarooz, and your wanting to replace them. I would stick with them and get the 3G's.  My buddy is very happy with his and they really appear to built very well.

I have a pair of Etonic E-Tours but haven't used them much found them narrow but I have a narrower foot medium D width.  They also offer less stability than a 3G Tour Ultra my regular shoes as the full width of the foot bed is narrower.  Some would get used to this.   I am a slider with whole foot on approach in slide and find the interchangeable heels lacking.

3G's to me are the best shoes available I may over time get used to the Etonics especially if I was bowling on more wood approaches.  Synthetic is a bit harder for me to use.

Got the interchangeable ones and they are the best shoes I've ever used. Blows 3G and Dexter out of the water and at a better price.
