Retro Balls
« on: November 21, 2019, 11:47:27 AM »
First time in a long while since I have posted a topic.  But I was just thinking about this.  With the retro balls that have been released up to this point; there are some that I would have thought would have been released for the modern conditions.  So far there have been some good ones and then there have been some that have surprisingly not caught on and not sold very well (Beast comes to mind).  Are there some that you are surprised have not been released as of yet if at all?  Here are mine:

Track Critical Mass and Code Red
Storm El Nino, Tour Power, Trauma and ER
Columbia Boss and Tour Boss
Brunswick Rhino Pros (Purple and Teal)
Hammer 3D (originals and Offsets)
Ebonite Wolf and Grey Wolf, Black Panther

Those are just some off the top of my head.  Sure I could come up with more if I thought longer about it.  I know this has probably been discussed in the past.  But now that we are quite a few years in to these retro releases; figured it was worth mentioning.

Rhinos were kind of re-released as the Avalanches a few years back (stronger covers but still pretty old school).

For me one of the best balls ever from Brunswick was the Rhino Pro LE.  From Columbia it would be the Cuda C Pearl.  Had a lot of high scores with these two balls.  If they would remake these (exactly like the originals) I'd be the first one in line.

Two big ones for me:
No U-Dots? Sure, spare balls now, but would be cool retro ones at least.
The first two Tritons weren't good enough so Track skipped to the Heat and made a whole new line of them? (Honorable mention: the NUKE)
The Future of Bowling: Bowling is a once-popular tavern game played with a heavy ball and ten pins.

Another that comes to mind and since they already did the Solid, is wondering if we will see the Triton Elite Pearl.  Not sure if it is just me; but I am shocked the Beast hasnt been a better seller this fall.  I have only been to 1 tournament in the past few months. I did see a few and from what I saw they roll really well.

The Urethane Hammers have done really well.  I believe the Quantums when they first released a couple years ago did well.  The Heat and Ultra Heat seemed to sell.  Not too sure about the Heat Lava though.  Vibes still seem fairly popular.

Most of the mentioned I liked. Cuda solid was also good or the Quakes and Piranhas. Those Ceramicore balls were amazing. I also liked the Night Hawks. My favorite Night Hawk was the Menace. Used mainly balls that came from San Antonio.

they had an overseas cuda gold, not sure how close that was. i threw the overseas piranha (purple one) it was great, strongest ball i'd thrown until i got my sure lock. i'm probably alone on this one, but i want to see radical try a remake of the weapon of mass bias. weird but useful reaction shape. that ball did everything wrong and it still worked great for me. it did the opposite of what you would expect from a normal reactive ball, probably mostly the particle cover. another i'm surprised no one mentioned. the angle
can i AXE you a question

Don't know if Radical has the legal rights to remake MoRich balls.  Pretty sure Phil can't remake the Vendettas either would have seen one by now (and I would have pre-ordered).  The black solid is my vote for a remake now I think about it (current balls with Vendetta name have 10 yo Hammer cores in them, Vendetta in name only).

I don't know. I know my pso knows a lot of people in the industry and he was telling me that Phil had some kind of contract where he couldn't make his own bowling balls, I guess he can help with the design and stuff but he couldn't start his own company again. I don't know what the situation is with morich. Speaking of discontinued brands did anyone get the rights to the lane 1 diamond shape core?

My teammate has a Beast and another friend as well!

I am not a fan, because they seemed to switch differentials between the old Beast and the old Messenger. This newer version Beast is stronger than the newer version Messenger, which is opposite of what they were originally.

Plus this newer Beast's coverstock compilation is different from the older one. I like my older one better, just saying!

I've seen a few Messengers, usually owned by women. I've seen a few pink Ninjas. The few remakes that have been most effective, that I've seen and used by many are the Quantums and the Vapor Zones!! They kill in my houses!
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

Don’t think the Ceramicore pieces would sell well today. Can’t drill deep enough for switch grip thumbs.
