Revamping the Arsenal – Need Some Feedback
« on: April 18, 2005, 07:18:54 AM »
Well it’s that time of year when I receive all of the winnings from the different leagues I bowl in and I’ve decided to change out the “old” balls. I’ve been to every web site, read dozens of reviews, and listen to other suggestions and it seems no one can agree on which type (brand) of ball is better. So…, here are my picks (reserve the right to make changes)

Profile:

Left-handed tweener
Speed: 17 mph at pins
Revs: 16
RPM''s 255
Average: 216

Horz: 5 5/8, Left
Vert: None

Replacing the Wrap Zone with the Storm Vertigo. Drilling will be a controlled drilling for early rolling. Using on heavy oil patterns with minimal backend.

Replacing the Lane1 with the Storm Atomic Charge. Will use on medium to med/hvy with some carrydown. Drill will be similar to the lane1.

Replacing the Too Hot with the Storm Hybrid. Will use on medium to med/light conditions. Drill will be the same as the Too Hot. I really like this drilling.

Last but not least is the plastic ball but I’m not changing that.

I was leaning towards the Shock & Awe but thought the Hybrid would give me the same long/snap movement. The diff was higher than I was looking for but does anyone think I could go with the Shock & Awe?

I will use these in leagues and also in tournaments.

I know some will say that most of these are “strong” but with my speed I can overcome allot of conditions. I’ve got pretty good control of three different releases and only struggle when the patterns are flat and long.

So please give me your feedback.

And thanks in advance.

Robert

I would go with one of your balls as an absolute.  Trust me you'll be thanking us for it later...

The Time Zone/ Vertigo switch seems odd to me. I always thought of the Time Zone as a very "medium" type of ball. I know there are ways to make any ball hook or skid, but, were you using the TZ for heavy?? If so, you probably made a good switch. If not, the Vertigo will be too much, IMO. But what do I know?!?
Anyaway... Good Luck *EDIT* I guess it was just a typo, I see that you had the WARP ZONE as your oil ball. That's OK then! Good luck!

Good eye, it is a Wrap Zone instead on a Time Zone.

Thanks
