Reviews and website going downhill
« on: February 15, 2004, 05:25:02 PM »
Well its about that time again. To put in a comment about how this site especially the reviews is going ddoowwnn!!
People write into the reviews saying how they are going to buy a ball, how they like the name and other crap like that. The webmaster-owner should delete stuff like that. What does that have to do with reviewing a ball. People use to actually come to the ballreviews to get info on a ball. Now we get so much garbage on the reviews that most of the long time members(and ive been here longer than 99.8% of the people) dont even read them anymore.

ok im done

I've always only read reveiws from credible people on this site...which, no doubt, was difficult at first, but now it's easy, ...if I don't recognize the name, I don't read it..........

I just read a review on a Lane 1 Uranium. The guy loved it cause it didn't wobble down the lane like his other stuff. You can't get comedy like that on just any web site.

I'm with Jason, I immediately ignored that user on the Uranium review. Some don't like to use the ignore feature, but that's one sure fire way to filter out the b.s.

Usually, just in the first few lines, you can tell who's serious and who's trying to feed you a line of crap. A decent bowler should be able to see through most of the bogus reviews. Again, these are mainly opinions. What I like, you might not like. What works for me might not work for you. I like to wait until I've thoroughly tried out the ball before I do a review. Everyone's computer monitor has a "brightness" knob. Unfortunately, that doesn't work with people.

I haven't read the reviews for months.
I usually just use the forum.

If I want info on a ball, I ask people who know my game and the equipment, or people whose game I'm familiar with.
If I can see someone throwing the ball, so much the better.

1fife:  I like you have been around since 2001 when scott had the site.  It used to be if you did a review and didn't include your style, lane conditions, type of lane and so on you would have a few people politely tell you "If you are going to do a review you need to make sure it is complete"!  I am afraid this site has turned into a play ground for kids who think everything is funny.  Yes we have lost alot of professionalism.  Would be nice is the site manager would monitor like Scott used to.

It bugs me to hear "I can read a few lines and tell if it's bogus".
I don't want to waste my brain reading the first few words of this crap. I see no reason that whoever manages this site can't just delete the obvious bogies. Of course then we'd have losers trying to just make it under the radar, bragging about getting away with something. I'm to the point where I pretty much just read reviews from posters I know.
