another "which ball" thread
« on: October 30, 2011, 05:48:33 AM »
Alright im looking at getting a med-dry piece. I have a dagger and from there I want to make a step down. My dagger has a mild reacting drill on it that I really like, its my go-to ball. From about the middle to late stages in the 2nd game to anytime in the 3rd game the dagger will begin to be too much. I can swing the ball but my rev rate isn't so much that I get the pin action I would like to see. So what I was looking at buying was either a storm frantic or motiv QZ2. I throw it in the high 15's low 16's, medium revs, and a med-high track. Any advice?

Hail to the Victors...Go Blue.....!!!

+2 on the Midnight Vibe.
It is a smooth stepdown which will allow you to swing the ball.  In my experience, I haven't seen people swing the QZ2 as much as it seems to prefer slightly more direct lines.  It sets up a little quick to swing as much as the Midnight Vibe.

I don't see the Frantic as being too different than the Nomad Dagger which is also a hybrid, although I think the Dagger is likely a tad stronger.
If you like Storm, the Rising Star and Tropical Heat are step downs.  They are a little strong, but certainly more of a stepdown than the Frantic.  Then you could even look at the Tropical Breeze if you need that much of a step down.  Beyond that is Urethane, but honestly, it's a massive step down from any of the balls I mentioned, let alone the Dagger.  Forget about swinging with Urethane.
