Armswing

Last week I posted a question about my release and the basic answer was for me to develop a perfect release before trying advanced things.  I practiced last weekend and had someone knowledgeable watch my armswing, and sure enough I was putting the ball down in a different spot every time.  I am "chicken-winging" it and can't break the habit for the life of me.  I overmuscle every shot and we all know how inconsistent that can lead you.  In my mind it feels like my arm is perfectly straight, but even when 100% of my concentration is on it, it still is at least partially bent.

This is most likely a result of poor timing, and it starts with an awful pushaway.  I stand directly behind the closest set of dots and use a 4 step approach.  if I start my pushaway while I am stationary, it feels awkward and my timing is awful, if I try to add a 5th step and have my pushaway start in motion, it's awful.  Know the analogy where people that start golfing who have played baseball try to hit the ball like a baseball?  I have the same type of problem in bowling where I try to muscle every shot.

Now that I've identified my problem, and it's taken me awhile to do that...what would be some recommendations on how to start feeling comfortable? If anyone needs other info let me know.
