BR Family,

I have been doing some research on ball companies' "archived balls" section. I have noticed that on some older resin balls, that there are no RG and differential numbers associated with the balls.

EX: I was comparing the Super Beast to a Scout/R Hi Flare, Wild, and Jazz. For some reason, the site does not list a coverstock name, RG, and differential numbers for the Super Beast. (I found a NIB Super Beast on Ebay and wanted to compare the cover and numbers to other current balls on the market. SB was my favorite ball when it was released)

I wonder why this is the case. The reason I am speaking of this, is that if there was a ball you liked from the past and wanted a similar reaction, why would there not be more info from the balls from the 90s and into early 00s?

Steve,

FYI even on the Columbia300 run websites prior to the Ebonite takeover, a lot of the older (~1995-1999) Columbia balls did not have RG and Diff numbers. Ebonite seems to have NOT even translated the ones that were there to the new webite.

FWIW memory says the SB's RG Diff was around .031". I was very interested in it at one time. I ordered one from my pro shop and the driller forgot about it.

Never did get one.

I am pretty sure you are right. I want to say that the cover was superflex with the RG # in the high 2.5 area and the diff # around .03. I was just curious as to why the companies do not put ALL the info of the older stuff on their sites. If any company is not going to give the information of a given ball, new or old, why bother putting it on the site? Just curious.....

Steve,

I figure most manufacturers have moved on to their new stuff and don't care that much about giving consumers old info.

Issue being bowlers with your technique and stats. don't need the new stuff (hook in the box with high diff. and low Rg's). Probably why you like Visionary's higher Rg lower diff. pearls.

I figure they're paying lip service to the old Columbia fans. That is, just giving them enough to make them think Ebonite is supporting them. It would have been so easy just to transport the old balls' web pages as they were. Instead they went to all th trouble of typing all the info and were probably too lazy to add the RG and DIff info, the real imporant dats. ALl they copied were the color pictures.
