I can't decide
« on: June 29, 2018, 03:42:16 PM »
My Scandel has retired so i need a new heavy to medium heavy oil ball and I can't decide between the Scandel/S, Rip'd solid, Codex, or the Katana Dragon. Ive read a bunch of reviews but they all seem the same. Any thoughts?

To start off, it would help to know all of your bowling stats ( speed, revs, tilt, rotation)  As well as what conditions you bowl on.   Are you more comfortable with assms, or syms?

To make it simple, did you like the Scandal? If you liked it a lot I'd narrow your choice to the Scandal/S and Rip'd Solid.

If you want the same but more backend go Scandal/S, if you want similar but chuggier go Rip'd

Stick with a solid for heavy oil

The Scandal/S is a sweet rolling piece, its very similar to the Scandal with a little more length and a little more motion downlane. Same controllable overall motion though, the Ripd solid is definitely more ball overall, If you feel the need for more ball than the Scandal, the Ripd solid is it. Its a flat out friggn beast. If you have higher speed and/or lower rev rate, then this may work better for you.

Agreed scandal/s, if you need to hit it with surface.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid

+1, My Scandal/S has a 5.5" pin to PAP and is still one of the Strongest balls out of the bag. Definitely a good replacement for the original.

Don't look past the Rip'd Hybrid as well. Knock the shine off and you have a more versatile ball than the Rip'd Solid. I haven't found much I can use the Solid on, but the Hybrid has had much more use. It's still plenty ball and will retain more energy for down lane.

Great advice on this ball, I haven't had alot of places I can even use this one, not alot of volume around here.
I had to take mine to 3000 + polish in order to get it down the lane further.
But, In Syracuse, this ball at factory prep was great on the team pattern, just wish I hadn't waited until game 3 to use it.
Did pretty much nothing on the minors there.
Its a strong ball for a shiny piece and its supposed to read the midlane in the oil
