Combatting URETHANE
« on: June 01, 2023, 02:01:27 PM »
I have a teammate who possesses several urethane balls which are his go to balls regardless of lane conditions.  I normally attempt to play left or right of his intended line but was thinking of another option.   Has anyone attempted to attack lanes with a stronger (either asym/sym) resin ball playing same line as urethane teammate.

Have a word with him about playing 10 as a breakpoint then play 8 yourself.

That should give you both the best of both worlds. Hold for you and a bit of miss outside for him.

It’s always better to work together as team mates rather than “combatting” his choices.

What I would do is taking something stronger with a little surface and move inside of him.  That is what the pros tend to do and best bet for house shots.  That way you can still have recovery from 5 while he creates hold in the track area.  At the end of the season consider moving on from him as a teammate if it bothers you that much but in a way that it does not create tension.  If he approaches you, just say you are keeping your options open and leave it at that.

You can try a 2in pin symmetrical and possilby play where he is--it is an option.
