Title: Ruckus Schizo vs Fortera Exile
Post by: Good Times Good Times on September 23, 2014, 09:07:16 AM
I'm contemplating getting one of these two.  They are the same price at the shop.....I just have to pull the trigger.

Note: I will be starting the surface out at 2000 + polish and will be looking to replace my spot in the bag currently filled by my Uproar.  This ball will be used for getting in and opening the lane up.....and will see use on sport patterns as well as a THS.

Assuming all things equal how should the motions compare?

both are definitely stronger than the Uproar. I've seen the Schizo to be angular but not quite as angular as the Fortera Exile as  it seems to start up a little sooner than the Exile

The Fortera Exile and Ruckus Schizo should have similar motions with the same surface preparation and drilling. Both balls will clear the front part of the lane and have a strong motion on the back part of the lane. Either one would work for getting deeper and throwing it to the friction. From what I have seen, the Fortera Exile is a little cleaner through the front part of the lane. Good luck with your new ball.

I know the Fortera Exile is an asymmetric piece. But is it not a progression of the Meanstreak, a symmetric piece that I've read somewhere had skid/flip characteristics?

I don't understand, they don't compare to the uproar..

Neither ball compares very well with the Meanstreak from the past.  The Fortify reactive cover used on the Exile is much cleaner down the lane.  The Brute is a cleaner than the Exile or Schizo and is a better choice being a symmetrical offering for replacing the Uproar.  The Brute is released today September 24th.

Chris is right!

I should clarify, my OP should have meant to say fill that place in my bag.

I just didn't match up well w/the Uproar, therefore I'm looking to replace that ball in my bag w/a Schizo.  I'm looking for a different motion overall (hence the asym).....

My bad guys.........

What is the motion you are hoping to get from the ball?

Definitely something angular......will look for a quicker response to friction but will discuss layout options w/my driller (I have a great shop so I know they'll take care of me).
