rule pinfall question

ok a guy throws the ball and leaves the 1-2-9 a pin is hit by the sweep coming down and is sent into the 1-2 knocking them down
legal or ilegal pinfall?

Is the sweep moving at the time the pin hit it or standing still?

the sweep was coming down and while coming down a pin went under the sweep and the sweep hit the pin and sent it into the other pins

Illegal.  The pins can't be aided in falling by anything but the ball and other pins.

Illegal. The pin can rebound off the sweep at rest but the sweep cannot hit a pin into other pins.

i wasnt sure for some reason i was thinking that it was legal.. and the person arguing with me over it was the same person that tried to argue with me that stepping on the gutter cap isnt fouling b/c the foul light didnt go off

Kidjete has it right. And tell the bowler arguing with you that stepping on the gutter cap IS a foul. So is stepping into the aisleway on either end lane to avoid fouling. The foul line extends into infinity, and does not end at the wall of the bowling alley.

Kidjete is wrong because the pin CAN rebound off the sweep at rest. Look at #3 below.

tried to... then explained to her why theres a like painted on the wall from the floor to the ceeling at the foul line.. that way if they put there hand on the wall there its a foul.. dumb biatch is hard headed

but we did take the pins off that were knocked down i just wasnt sure

and number 3 is what we based our decision on is that the sweep was moving not at rest

to get clear on what happened.. a fallen pin came out in front of the head pin.  The rack comes down on this pin and sends it into the 1 -2 knocking them down?

Again it's illegal.  Maybe I wasn't clear enough.  Nothing can cause the pins to fall but the ball and other pins.  The sweep, as it was MOVING, caused the pins to falls because it knocked a pin into the standing ones.  It's that more clear?
