Rules Question

USBC has decided to put in place this new rule for two handed bowlers but I have a real question....What if the two handed bowlers is bowling on the right side and decides to switch to two handed backup ball....  What are your thoughts on that...  Same ball but throwing as backup.....

I don't see a problem with it, just as a one handed bowler could start throwing a backup as well.

If you have that skill set then you can use it.

I've seen right handers throw at 10 pins with a back up ball. Most aren't very good at it but they couldn't hardly make one throwing a straight ball either.

Personally -- I didnt see a extra weight hole as a problem but was trying to see in which direct USBC could regulate this style of bowling... Everybody knows a right handed ball thrown by left hander or opposite will not move that many boards....

Can't agree with you there.  One of my honor scores was thrown with a ball I got from a lefty.  He had a switch grip installed and I found a right hander with a switch grip that I temporarily installed ("upside down" to get the angle right) to see how it rolled.  I liked it so much that I plugged and re-drilled it with the same pattern.

"Label" drill for lefty = weak drill for righty = VERY smooth and lots of strikes. It might not be a leverage for a lefty, but it's a very weak drill for my rev rate.

There are some layouts for low track or very low track bowlers that have the pin left of the middle fingerhole for RHs so it looks like it was drilled for a LH.  I have one that is drilled with the pin left of middle finger and CG left of CS that works well for me.

Looking at that picture that you posted, it may be time to find a center that has newer lanes or at least one that oils on occasion.  That lane looks very worn and dry.  :)

That's an old picture.  For some reason, even when the surface is freshly touched up it still looks bad in a picture.  I don't know if it's the white or the blue/white swirl, but every tiny scratch is magnified.  Of course it might have been thrown at Triad Lanes (known for being extra sparky outside of 10) a few times before the picture.  :)

As long as the same hand is under the ball it is OK. We had a guy that would or wanted to do this by reversing his hands which is a violation of rules. This was back when it was ABC, but the ruling was he had to lead with the same hand just as he would if he had his thumb in the ball. Is that what you were questioning?  If done correctly its no different than anyone else doing it the old way.
