Random bowling rants/raves

First off, to the guy who accused me of sandbagging because i had been struggling, averaging 190, then shot 725 (and have consequently shot 3 series under 650 since christmas), thanks, you're a real winner...J Mac or Mac J , whatever...

ANYHOW -

I know our league uses some crazy lingo for stuff - Man on, busdriver, etc...
anyone have anything like that?  Anybody here get really loud during league?  It gets that way with us.

Also, there's 10 teams in our league.  8 of them, we win, we win, that's awesome.  There's one team though, that I just absolutely take pleasure in beating them...STOMPING THEM.  We beat them in the rolloff for first place last year.  They're a second year team, cocky, but more over, streaky as anything.  We took all 7 tonight.  Granted I shot 585, and the next lowest guy shot 650...
Any teams out there that you just live for that week coming up when you get a chance to trounce them??

Oh yeah, the funny part of tonight...on lane 1 and 2, there were two guys on the same team, one went 300 the other went 297.  The owner, who's a really good guy, will chat it up with anyone, was standing there, I just humorously ask him (with a grin and a little laugh), "hey Teddy, what did you do to these lanes?! they're daggone blocked!"  He just kinda gave me this blank stare...I was just like "haha, i'm kiddin i'm kiddin"... That was just kinda strange.  ah well.

my average has gone up 8 pins in 8 weeks!!

Crossover/pull/push
(about 50 feet down the lane)
"now hook"

Pin wiggles for opponenet (we're all good natured)
"Stand up and FIGHT!"

men's league is so much more animated than kiddy leagues were....the 3 guys I bowled kiddy leagues with that I bowl mens with now, we were the most anmiated in the league by far...now we're average at best.

I have a teammate who if you throw a shot out the window (clearly a washout or light split coming) will yell "Jersey" or "Brooklyn". When he says it you turn around are like "What?"---but then all you can do is laugh.

I say alot of typical things---tilt when the ball needs to hook. Do something good on a shot that, well, needs to do anything good.

My favorite saying is when someone leaves a greek church or a 1-2-4-6-10---"You got half".

On my Tuesday league I have an older teammate who loves to say 'big ball, little pin- no problem' to any single pin you leave on the deck. He will also let everyone know loudly if you miss something like a 5 pin during the night.

We bowled against a team last week where one of the gentlemen spent the whole night saying in important frames to his teammates 'lock and load'....I must have heard that phrase 60 times in 3 games.

I start every night telling my teammates "Tonight, I'm joinin' the club!!".  A couple guys on the team are part of the 700 club and I just know they get the chicks!!

Since I've joined, we've become a pretty animated team -- never any bad attitude, though.  Never seen a group of guys who could bowl a 380 or a 750 and you could never tell what kind of night they had.  We (well, most of us) are in it for the fun......

Favorite team sayings:

  • Hit nine, get nine!

  • You're gonna miss it! (We have a GREAT team support system!! )

  • Hit it thin and see 'em spin!

  • Get on your own side!! (We have a lefty and the rest of us crossover quite a bit)

  • ROACH!! (One of our usual subs gets some sh*tty breaks -- if we yell his name, the pin falls!!)

Some of our saying are:

What a power strike: When pins are left on the deck.

Poucher: When someone gets a Brooklyn strike.

Somebody's going to get hung: When the fourth player (me) throws a strike after the other three in the lineup.

Did you bring my five dollars: We all throw in five each night. Our own mini-pot.

Your slip is showing: Leaving a 5 pin.

My league has a saying for the four thru the face shot.  It's "Fore" as in when you hit an errant drive playing golf.
