I Want Answers and I Want Them Now!
« on: September 09, 2008, 08:01:25 AM »
Well since Fall/Spring league is back, that means I'm back - whether you like it or not hehe.  Anyways, I plan to bowl a couple of 300's this season.  I am now bowling assistance free: no tricks, no gloves, just my hand in the ball is all.

Last week I bowled 625 with a poor 189 the last game.  Anyways, I did it with one of Storm's best: Vertigo.

Tell me if there is a similar ball out of any line that I can use to basically overpower the lane (dry as hell synthetics) and run it right up the right side ~18-20 mph.  I plan to get it resurfaced if nothing else is good.  Keep in mind I am not a noob that wants a ball to hook all over the place because hooking is so cool.  I want consistency and I want quality hits (no 10's or other BS).

-Resurface the ball or what new ball?

Does it resemble the Black Widow?  Overall, I think the bowling industry is like the supplement industry - a big scam.  You don't get better with more equipment.  It takes training and dedication and practice.  Same with bodybuilding.

^Not directed at you, just in general - talking to myself LOL.

I assume you mean straight up the outside boards at that speed on really dry lanes.  Either of the Avalanches are awesome balls on dry lanes.  I own the Solid and while I'm slightly rev dominant it only needs a little head oil on the small swing shot.  I can't play straight up.  If your revs match the speed or you're speed dominant, you should be fine with one of those two, maybe a Neptune or Street Rod Pearl.  According to your profile, you A game with your high speed should work with any of those balls.  Hope that helped.

The Razyr has a reactive coverstock but a very basic three piece core.  It should react nothing like the Black Widow which has an aggressive core.

And more balls won't make you better.  But getting the right ball in your hands for the condition your facing certainly helps.  If you get matched up, you have a greater margin for error and your carry percentage will be higher.  You don't need to have a ton of bowling balls for that.  You just need to have the right ones and be willing to use different hand positions, speed, etc. to adjust as well.

LOL.  I actually am currently.  I'm bulking to around 220-230lbs.  I'd prefer to go the bodybuilding route though.  I'm a lover not a fighter.

I've never thrown one (nor even seen one thrown, for that matter), but the reviews of the Visionary Centaur makes it seem like a good choice for you. It's very low flare with a little bit of surface, so it won't overreact.

Lanemasters Hornet, in my very humble opinion, is the best dry condition piece currently available.

I'll see how my schedule is.  Bowling 3 games is hard enough because I am not really built for bowling anymore as I have gained weight from lifting weights.  Last week I pulled my tricep in the 3rd game LOL.

Thanks to everyone else.  Will be looking up balls this weekend (no homo).
