Drifting left

Hello all, I am a right handed stroker. I have this problem of late of drifting to the left. I don't exactly know when I started it but I caught my self doing it about 2 weeks ago and can't seem to get out of it.It is usually between 3 and 5 boards. I had a fellow bowler watch me and he said it looks to him like I am stepping out of the way of my ball on the down swing. Anybody else ever have this problem and does anyone have any suggestions how to get out of it. It is killing my accuracy. Thanks for your help.

Could be that you are opening your shoulder wayyyyyyyyyyy to much.....then hips have to swing out as swing plane is changed.........

This is exactly what Carol Normal showed me on my video tape during our session.....

What I was doing....pushing ball slightly right and away as I started the ball out in front of me...this caused shoulders to really open up......arm swing had to go behind back...hips had to kick out.....had to drift left or would kill myself.....

brought ball to my side...push straight out....keep shoulders much more closed...not closed still open but no where near as much......swing plane on correct plane.....hips stay pointed at target line and not opened up......no drift.....extend through shot towards target.....

my accuracy has shot up...scores have gone ballistic......and drift is gone.....


Without seeing you don't know if this is exactly the problem....but sounds like could be....

there is nothing wrong with drifting if it is consistent.  I drift about 3 boards and it is just part of my approach.  most who drift do it to let their hips clear so the ball can come through.  another thing with todays game is that everyone starts out further left and it is just your bodies natural movement to drift left because you realize that your stronger ball will hook more.
