I recently received a ball spinner as a gift, and I had a question regarding sanding the ball.  I bought some Abralon pads (500,1000,2000,4000).   It says for best results to sand the 6 sides of the ball and provides a diagram.  

I guess my question is, since more than 1/2 of the ball sits above the cup of the spinner, why cant you just flip the ball over 1 time and cover the entire ball?

Any input is appreciated.

try this also.... if the grit lines go with your track lines, the ball will hook more.  if you go against the track lines it will hook less.

If you're doing a resurface, then following the "six-sides" rule is a good idea.  Leads to uniformity of wear.

However, if you're just adjusting the surface for a different reaction many people only do what you suggested...go over one side, flip it and go over the other side.  

Abralon pads are expensive and do not last all that long.  It won't hurt your balls to just sand the two sides.  If you're worried about your ball going "out of round" then don't sand the same two sides the next time you refresh or change the surface.

4 sides always starting with roughest grit and working up to the finest grit. 500, 1000, 2000 abralon. Always the same amount of time on each side (30 seconds) using the low speed setting. This is done with plenty of water being sprayed on the ball.
