A common misconception of the Sarge Easter is that it lowers rev rate, the difference is minor when the bowler gets used to it. It really has two purposes, to relieve stress on your ring finger (from injury or whatever reason) and/or it changes your tilt, which in turn is helpful for the higher rev bowlers to be able to control their ball reaction.

I can't really tell any difference, except for the initial "feel" of it. I got a ball that ended up being Sarge Easter by accident.  My thumbhole is offset, but the driller offset it to the wrong side and the ring finger grip ended up really short.

Instead of plugging it, I just threw it that way.  Ball still hooked a ton and flipped just as hard on the backends.

How can you miss a thumb by enough to pick up a whole knuckle on your ring finger. I thought Sarge Easter the ring was drilled conventional. That should be about 1".

My thumbhole is usually offset 3/8 inch left of center, the driller went 3/8 right of center and also missed the ring finger span.  He said he knew something was wrong the instant he looked at the drilled holes.

The combination of errors left the ring finger significantly shorter than normal.  It is just a touch long to call it a true Sarge Easter, but I can put my ring finger in to the second joint if the hole has no insert in it.
