Saw my first 300 thrown today!
« on: August 17, 2004, 08:55:07 AM »
Me and a_ak57 went to Frankie Mays pro shop, and both got a ball drilled. We wanted to try them so we got a lane. I didnt bowl well but thats not the point. There was a guy next to us, high rev high speed full out cranker, but he was a good cranker, he had control. It was funny because he was done the game in like 10 minutes, seemed like it happened too fast. On the last frame, he look over at me and andy and said, "ever seen one thrown?" and I said, "nope". He proceeded to throw the last strike for a 300 game. I was kind of in awe, to just see someone throw a 300 like its nothing!!! Oh well. Also, finally got to meet frankie may, great guy, SO nice! Great pro shop operator, took time to measure our spans and pitches and everything, asked if I wanted anything special done, all that. Great prices too, if you ever get a chance to stop by his pro shop, even if he's not there, I would stop by!

I heard Rudy "Revs" Kasamakis shot 170 in a scratch tournament then went 5-1 odds with like anyone in the building that he'd shoot 300 the next game.  12 strikes later...he was a pretty rich man, this is no myht.  I've had 3 guys tell me the same story who were in attendance

The only 300 i have ever seen shot was a guy at state that bowls left handed. He has one arm too! It was pretty amazing. He was a college bowler and i heard he had shot several of them...

He's definitely a good driller.  I've never been able to release so cleanly.  I can actually say with confidence now that I plan to average at least 170 this upcoming season. (this will be my second sanctioned league)

If your wondering, I got a power groove drilled, and proceeded to shoot 600 "out of the box".  Wow.

It's in a town/city called Reading, PA in the bowling alley called Berks Lanes.  The alley is pretty nice, well kept.

He has a website, though he doesn't update it much (ball selection is different)...

www.frankiemayproshop.com

EDIT:  All you visionary people will love this shop, since it has the full visionary arsenal.  Also good for people curious to try something new.

Well, not literally the lanes (though they are old beat up wood), but the oil pattern....

Had a chance to meet him in Reno.  Real nice guy, I have been thinking about driving over to the shop myself.
