Every Saturday a house here holds a King of the Hill tourney. There''s usually around 50 or so guys (and ladies) that show up, but there were over 70 today from all over the area.
Today a guy came up that doesn''t make it every Saturday, but he''s there often enough. He had a day that we all dream of. 279-300-300 to break our city record by 11 pins. He''s a heck of a nice guy and obviously a pretty good bowler.
When talking to some other guys down there after this terrific achievement, it was odd that they just didn''t seem very impressed. A couple even told me that it was no big deal. The reason? The guy that just threw 35 out of 36 (left a 9 pin) is a lefty. Oh, and we move pairs after every game with no practice shots on the new lanes.
I could go on about this for awhile, but really I''m just saddened and a little pissed off by it. Everyone there was witness to a set that they will probably never see again and there were mixed feelings because of what hand the guy bowls with? My best guess is that people are both ignorant and jealous. Maybe they think that if they were lefties that they could do it themselves?
I took a very crappy vid with my cell phone of his last 2 shots that I will put up later. Wall or not, lefty or righty, you get props from me when you shoot like that.
