Scented bowling balls
« on: February 05, 2009, 04:45:16 AM »
Would the scent of my storm bowling ball increase or decrease in scent with use?

Neither.

My buddy with front 8: "Me too!"
Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"

it will decrease only a little, but after that it will stay about the same..

I have an special agent with TONNNS of games and been through surface changes, rejuver, it still had a fairly strong scent.

Most of them smell strong for years, some fade a bit but believe it or not I find most of them are like scratch and sniff, refresh the surface and you get more scent again lol.

The story was, that the President of Storm's wife was getting a tour of the plant and she commented that the resin smelled awful.

I think I remember something about when they first did it they said when the smell went away it was telling you it was time for a resurface.  I bought my first Storm ball since they started the scents yesterday a Hyroad right before league last night.  I had the front 10 in game 2 before I dropped the 11th off my hand for an 8 count.  I will take 288 anytime for a ball straight off the drill press.

Well to be honest my first new ball(all others before were hand me downs) and bit knowing exactly what to expect from these new balls I looked at a bunch of balls and I was between the cell, gravity, black widow and another ball and decided on the gravity and the scent was a nice idea and was just enough to sway me.

I was on Staff with Storm back then.  I was told, they did it because they could.  It is/was different, and makes people talk about Storm bowling balls.  Here it is, years later, we are talking about Storm bowling balls.

Through the grapevine I had heard that Columbia tried it, but couldn't get it to work, smelled like rubber, not sure how true it is though.

Some scents are no longer used...

I don't think banana was used on anything other than the Core Power LRG.  I have one with plenty of games and can't catch a whiff of bananas anymore.

Over the years I've noticed that some scents have more staying power than others, and it also seems that pearl coverstocks hold the scents better/longer than dull solid coverstocks.

I know of a NIB El-Nino X-it that smells absolutely nothing like raspberries anymore.
