I currently have a scout at home undrilled. I know this is a light oil ball how sould it be laid out tho

I have a higher track about 1" away from fingers and thumb. Rev rate is 300 speed is 16. 50 deg of rotation. Could this ball be an option for my second shift league that gets very dry ? Any sugestions

I love my scout. On a fresh shot I throw it down 12 2 handed and it comes up strong.
On a second shift shot, I go one handed and it still holds and has snap in the back end where my other stuff either will just roll out and hit like a muffin, or miss left.

Theres no core in a Scout so layout is pretty irrelevant. Most Scouts will have very short pin outs (pin to cg distance) If your track is that far away from the fingers, you should have no problem putting the pin under the fingers and not have to worry about clipping them.

Saturday night I shot 300 259 and 245 for an 804 with the scout.

best $35 I ever spent in bowling

bluerrpilot is right: since the pin distance on pancake balls is small, you will probably end up with the CG in the palm and the pin either stacked above it, if it is a 0-1" pin, or anywhere at 45Â° from it if it has a longer pin distance, so that the pin ends up between ring finger and PAP (label setup). I wold not see much other options or the need for it, since the pancake does not offer much dynamic influence.

I bought a 15lb Scout when they first got introduced as a light oil ball. I put a generic label drill on the ball. Pin .5" right of ring finger and cg in the palm.

When the track area would dry out I 'd pull it out, pound the pocket and ping ten pins all night long! For me it was very disappointing.

I should have drilled it pin under the ring finger.

You can drill a 3 piece ball dynamically. CG will matter in this case youngsters.

The old Scout from the San Antonio-based Columbia300 had a pancake core with a flip block.

These things can generate some angle on the backend, block weighted one for a young fellow (the shop owners son!!) the other day and it does wild turns, ever seen a 2-6?

Remember all you young uns, block weight is half way between label and leverage

I thought block weight was using a pin-in ball and putting the pin 3 3/8in from grip center on the midline with an X-hole 3 3/8 past that, also on the midline?

Had a Black A.M.F. Cobra drilled with the pin 3 3/8 in from grip center on midline with an X-hole on pap ( was called block/axis weight ) that rolled great, back in the day

I wanted his Dad to track down the old Hi-Flare Scout coz he wanted one with more reaction. Think i managed it with this one and its stronger than his pin in grip centre one. I was gonna go crazy and go with the pin 45 degrees from grip centre and the hole 9" over, kinda wish i had now!!
