feet and target moves

What is the proper technique when you have to move left due to oil drying up?
I have seen a “2 and 1” mentioned.
What is the definition of that?
I think that has to do with feet and target.
Are there other techniques?

From my understanding, 2 and 1 means move 2 boards with your feet, and 1 with your target.  Doing this will (hopefully) allow you to hit the same breakpoint down lane, just getting there a different way.  I usually do that when the head oil in the part of the lane I'm camping out at starts to break down.

In the old days you just moved your feet or paralled. Today on a THS if you just move your feet and not your target you get into the dry outside to early and the ball overhooks. You adjust both in a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 ratio to keep the ball in the oil until you get it to the correct break point.

On today's condition I only move my feet....5 boards at a time. Not 1 or 2 boards. To me it gets too complicating and never have any conistancy.

I only move if I need to. I like to shift my eyes up and down the lane making adjustments. I can see the reaction better.
