Sean Rash . . um, wow
« on: December 10, 2006, 04:18:46 AM »
He throws one of the best balls I've ever seen in my life, but he's being a SUPER prick right now.  Being from Kansas and having bowled against him a few times in juniors and seeing him shoot back to back 800's in the state tournament last year, I was naturally a fan, but the stuff he's doing on tv right now is really turning me off.  Yelling at the fans after beating Danny about "Who's your hometown hero now?" (or whatever he said), and then when Parker just playfully threw the towel at him, he just arrogantly flipped it up in the air and sauntered back to his chair.  He's a great bowler and he'll win plenty of tournaments, but I hope he grows up so I can start rooting for him again.

P.S., the Total is a BEAST . .

Sean is a nice guy . . that's why I was surprised.  I do agree that there are more similarities to Pete's actions than I thought.  Maybe it was more shock that he was getting like that.  I just don't know that going like that at a veteran was the smartest thing to do . . he's not going to win a lot of fans that way.  First impressions mean a lot.  Myself, I like watching guys like Jason Couch.  He's a good mix of everything.

I am sure Sean Rash is a nice guy.  But wow, there's something about a new guy taunting Wiseman's crowd that comes off as wrong.

I was hoping Parker could give him his spanking that he deserved but it wasn't meant to be I guess.

Screw being a prick because thats a whack statement, not when people cheer for Pete Weber and what he does. He's a rookie making himself known in his own way and I say let him, now the "Hometown" comment was rude just like when T.O. posed of the dallas star but it is what it is. Pete Weber is the reason for acts like Sean Rash so if you dislike Rash's actions you should dislike Pete's. Right or Wrong ladies and gentlemen?

I guess I'm still trying to figure out who everyone is pointing at that supports Pete Weber and is bashing Rash? It looks to me like the Weber supporters are backing Rash and the people who think today was a bad day for Rash don't like Weber either. That is not an argument so don't bring it back up.

Sean Rash = 23 year old punk i never again will hope he wins after the taunting he did too the hometown fans and Danny's family. Danny is a 1 st class guy even telling him way to go and win your 2 nd title at the end of the match.

Maybe Sean is a nice guy off the lanes but you only make friends with people once and even stronger when you make enemies. I think the veteran's will put him in his place, i would love to see a Weber versus Rash match on TV now. Pete will school him in how to make your opponent look stupid, just watch someone will shut Rash up for good on disrepecting family and hometown fans.

I dont care really but he ranks up there with WRW for being major weinie, the time i might WRW made me forever not like him he treated me and worse my wife like crap. Rash might be nicer guy i dont know him but i might bowl the pro am just to see, might be interesting meeting a few of these guys.

Sorry to hear about you and your wife's interaction with Walter Ray. I didn't have a chance to talk with him a few years back so I have no idea, but I have heard that he's not warm and fuzzy guy. That being said, I do suggest bowling a Pro-Am because most of the guys are pretty cool. I've met a few of them and almost to the person they were at least polite.

I'm with you there. PB3 is my favorite.

BTW...I bowled with Rash at the '04 Masters. He was focused and actually not too demonstrative. He was respectful to me and the other two bowlers. We didn't talk much, but that wasn't why we were there.

After sitting here and reading all of everyones comments, it seems as if none of you have ever been excited before. And for that I have some things to say.

Now, I know that some of you probably are lying about your game, because to say that you do not get excited is just preposterous.

Adrenaline is a friendly little chemical that, along with a few others, has the tendency to kick things up a notch and take some of the rationality out of one's behavior when it is streaming through the blood.  The kid is 24, straight out of college and one hell of a bowler.  Granted I am only 19, so take my comments as you wish. But when one is bowling against one of his idols (Wiseman) that I am sure he has grown up watching, this event is so much more important.  Not to mention the death of his friends family and all of the other things riding on this show.  Now, before you all go on to say something about the PBA being a joke and such, I ask you all this:

Were you not all young once?  Regardless of whether it had anything to do with bowling or sports in general, do you not remember when you were young and naive, and thought you were unstoppable?  We put these guys on a pedestal because they are the pros but when it comes down to it, and especially with Sean, he is just a 24 year old kid who is going to take the PBA over.  Be excited. Be excited for him.  Be excited for the next generation. It has to start somewhere.  I am not taking glory away from guys like Weber, Wiseman, Criss, the elders compared to guys like Rash, Jones and Malott.  But if people like all of you are going to keep the young'ns from being excited to start a new generation on tour, than we would be better off without your support to begin with.

And the accuracy stuff?  Bowling and winning is about creating the most area on the lane.  No one, and I mean no one can hit the width of a hair shot after shot after shot.  Matching up is crucial, and to me and everyone else who is not crying about the kid's win, he matched up 100% better than everyone else on that show.

I was there, I am from Baltimore. I was rooting for Wiseman, but it is a sport.  The better bowler won.

Seriously, if I have to hear the "young guns" comments any more, I will vomit.

Here's what a PBA telecast sounds like to me:

Young gun Young gun Young gun Young gun Young gun Young gun Young gun all ten down in the pit all ten down in the pit all ten down in the pit all ten down in the pit all ten down in the pit all ten down in the pit sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success sixty feet to success.

AAAH!!!

They have to pump the Young Guns up. From what I hear, Weber, Voss, Duke, and more are quitting after this season due to the reduced prize fund. The Young Guns are the future of the PBA and its attempt to survive.

I though Rash's "hometown" comment was stupid.  So he acts like mr tough in Danny's home town. So Sean, don't expect me to feel sorry for Mr Tough Guy when he starts crying on TV. Can't have it both ways.

I guess this is what I sould expect from an immature 24 year old.  Would have thought that his college would have prepared him better, but apparently I am wrong. Minus 1 for WSU.

Not sure I understand this. You dislike Rash for what he did, but it is alright if Webber does it, especially does it to him one day on the lanes? I guess that being a veteran like PDW, it is alright to disrespect someone.

Personally, I do not see anything wrong with what he did. He could have just as easily said "WHO IS THE GREATEST NOW" if he was bowling WRW. But after reading the article on the PBA website, that is all that you heard about there and from the broadcast team. He probably heard it backstage all day before going out on the lanes.

Why is everyone so against change. I feel the sport needs change. The young kids need a reason to get into the sport and if bowling was the same as it was back in the 60-70's, then no one would want to do it. There needs to be excitement and that is all that he did. He made it front page. If you do nto belive me, look at how many posts are on this post right here. There is a post on here that kind of compares it to TO. But look at how often TO is on the front of the sports page for what he does. His name is in lights.

Any remember ALI and how he talked? He was raked over the coals for what he said and did. But now he is considered the greatest. Amazing how time has changed peoples minds about it. Maybe the samething will happen here. Not saying that he is going to be the greatest. But maybe after some time, people will just take it as that is the way he is.

So, being young is an excuse for acting like an ass?  He is supposed to act like a PROFESSIONAL bowler....key word PROFESSIONAL.

Have you ever seen TIGER say, "Hey, mickelboobs, nice shot into the hospitality tent".  NO!  Because they are professionals.  I'm sure they talk trash behind the scene, in the locker room or practice rounds.  But, the new owners of the PBA have failed to make it more exciting, IMO.  If I wanted to watch stupid trash talk and such, I'd just watch the WWE.

I didn't see the show prior to reading this thread.  As soon as Rash opened his piehole, I turned off the sound.
