Last night during my scratch league, I wasn't comfortable shooting straight (with my spare ball), missing left. So after missing a 4 pin and 6 10 in the first game (my only spares I had in this game), I made a decision to hook at all my spares. Finished the night by making all my makable spares. Thus, a good "lucky" move....but...
For years I threw straight with a spare ball. Now, I'm thinking of hooking at all my spares since all I bowl on is THS. But, how difficult can it be hooking at spares? Last night I got lucky on some of the spares, cutting the pins on the left side. I had to guess using the 3 6 9 system and 4 8 10 version. For the ten pin, I stood 15 boards further inside from my starting point/board because the backends were hooking in the third game. So the 3 6 9 systems doesn't really apply? right?
Do many of you use a combination of spare ball (throwing straight) and strike ball hooking at spares?
How would you throw for multi pin leaves - straight or hook at it? for example, the bucket.? which is a higher %?
