Title: Season Hero
Post by: 2handedrook12 on March 15, 2017, 05:39:07 PM
As we reach the end of the season, let's have a little reflection on it. What ball has been the go-to for you guys?

Hy-Road Pearl throughout. Recently mixed in the Code Black and RocketShip towards this last quarter.

For me it was my Scandal, then my Red legend pearl. Since I have the Timeless it's been taking the place of the red legend

Freakshow solid.  Its made appearances on everything from 36-45' patterns in my Challenge league and has been the benchmark in my bag for every tournament

Given all the changes I've made to my bag (which came after fixing my span) I don't know if I could point to one specific ball. If I had to... the Storm Mix.  ;D Can't go wrong with the spare ball. With more time and games I think the Grudge Hybrid would have been a good candidate though.

the ball that seen the most action is my IQ tour; but since this year I have only bowled sport league and we change the shot every 6 weeks or so, its hard to throw the same ball week in and week out.

the IQ Tour though is easily most used, followed by Snap Lock and Lock.

I have to agree with Brandon. My Freak Show Solid is great on a lot of different conditions as long as there's some volume. Easy to read the ball and know if I need to ball up or down

For me, it's a old  quantum urethane, followed by a storm mix, crazy for such weak balls, but not nearly enough oil to use anything else, balls just destroying the racks at my centers.

Two balls for me a motiv tag which cash me on multiple shots and the house shot/earl Anthony shot killer tropical breeze.

Track Tundra and 300C, don't see enough oil to throw more aggressive balls.

I can't say I've had a "season hero" but I have had some really good weeks with the Phaze II but no string of really big sets.  I've been consistently "meh" this year and it's not the equipment's fault.

Won't start league until summer, but I think it'll be my Optimus Solid. Shot 290 with it  out the box.  ;D

Motiv Forza GT. I've bowled more 700's this year with it than any other ball in past years. My high this year is 780 with the Forza GT.

This season has been any solid that is pin down.  Keeps my reaction for over jumping off the dry

cant say i have a hero. i shot 300/770 with a brand new 503T that was laying in the shop that i drilled recently. had 279/785 with my red mission unknown and a 778 with an older 503T that i had the front 8 each game but fell apart at the end. i can be  happy with that bowling one night a week.

Sadly and patheticly, my storm mix has been after months' of a old 90's urethane for half of the season;  it's bad when on the left side, I have to resort to using a plastic type urethane and forced to play 4th arrow in the first game at my local houses, n
Slim to no chance with anything even in the entry level range.  ???

This is hard for me since I change out my equipment each week. I do this to keep all balls in my library fresh!

But my, "get-me-out-of trouble" ball this season has been my Storm Prodigy. I have used it on light oil, medium oil, and medium heavy, successfully. Most of my equipment is pin down, to keep it from jumping on the backend. 288/735 in a tournament with it this year!

I also have a AMF Hawk that is rico drilled and a benchmark piece for me.

Go to has been a hyroad, dream and a respect.  All polished as my centers don't put out enough oil.

Storm Fight.  I know it gets very little respect here but since I drilled one up a few months back, has been money for me.

Somewhat amending a previous post - the last two sets I've had with the Kinetic Emerald I've had a 278 and 279.  The season has been somewhat of a disaster, maybe this ball will save some of my bacon.

My Scandal is the one I've had the most success with.
The Freakshow for when the lanes are dried up.
Will be sticking with Hammer next season.

I've thrown a lot of different balls this year from different companies, but now that I've settled in on Storm/Roto Grip, the No Rules Pearl has been my go to for the past couple of months. Although the Daredevil Trick has taken over the last week or so. Finished the night with a 278 and 279 on Thursday.
