I think the important thing is to make sure whatever is "broken" or torn is healed before you start bowling again. Do the therapy or whatever was recommended to restore the muscles or tendons or ligaments of whatever. to their former strength or better. If you rush it for whatever reason, the next damage could be more serious and more painful.
If you're young enough the healing process could go very quickly. If you're sightly older, you better consider warm-ups and stretching before any exercise, to make sure your muscles and tendons and stuff are ready for the stresses that bowling and other sports put on your body.
