Title: Second try at a video...
Post by: LuvThatWhiteDot on May 09, 2004, 11:13:25 PM
Here's White Dot (I hope).

Whomever suggested using We-Todd-Did-Racing in another thread -- THANKS!

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMzg4OTg2NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D

This was one of the few strikes I threw in the Doubles event at Lilac City  I wanted opinions on whether or not to fiddle with the little loop in the swing.  Fire away

Luv,
if this is something you do very consistently, and don't "spray" the ball over the lanes (missing your mark), I wouldn't worry about it.....but thats' just me.

Very smoooooth!

Was that a white-dot?

I don't miss very often (mind you, I can't split grains of wood, but I can hit a 2-3 board area consistently.  Carry is a whole different ballgame though).

White Dot--
While my Fred Flintstone computer here at work is taking ten minutes to download your video, I just thought I'd ask if you deleted your original post.  I got a message that you had made a new response to that post, and when I clicked on the link to it, I got a notice that there had been no new responses within the last 30 days; which makes no sense.

Sorry about that... since the first video didn't work for anyone except one person, I went through WTDRacing and at least two have seen it now.

We todd ownz... sometimes it will go down, or if you exceed your bandwidth limit the video will not be available for a while.  That is usually when alot of ppl just click the link, ppl at work, if you are at home i would reccomend right click "save as" so as not to kill the link.

Video looks good.

White Dot, you are now a permanent part of
my various bowling videos. You look good to me.
I like the way you get down with your right leg
before you slide. You are set up for a swing shot
and the angle may look like its behind your back
a little, the rest is classic. I have to really stay
aware of how I set up and start my ball, too much to
the outside, is too much to the inside and I lose
it to the right. Bill Hall likes what he calls the
J swing, ball goes back mostly straight or just
a little outside and then tucks back in close to
your body on the forward swing. This works best for me.

I'm not sure... it belonged to a friend who did the filming.  I'll drop him an email and when I found out I'll post it.

LTWD - here's a suggestion for getting rid of that little loop at the top of your backswing...

After the loop, it looks like you swing through to your target.  Based on that, I'm assuming that you want your backswing to be straight back to where you start your downswing and straight through from there.  Take a look at your pushoff in slow-motion.  You start the ball out and to the right, so naturally, your swing comes back and to the left.  Try starting the ball (pushoff) more towards your mark instead of out to the right and you should be able to minimize or eliminate that loop.

Good luck!

PS - nice clean release and very good balance at the line

LTWD - don't count your coach out so quickly.  Your coach's opinion and suggestions are going to be based on watching you throw a number of shots (including spares) on different conditions using different equipment.  We of the board are limited to seeing you throw a single shot, so our advice and comments are based on only seeing what you've shown: a single shot.

WhiteDot,

THANK YOU!

It's really great to watch a video of someone doing something other than stand left, swing the ball behind his back, chuck it right, and watch it boomerang into the pocket for a strike.

Someone who actually bothered to learn to bowl, amazing.

You look pretty solid.  Now's the time to take your game to the next level, with some good coaching.

I learned first with plastic, then moved to urethane, and now reactive, but I have a love/hate relationship with those reactives

I take lessons every August, Sea..  Unfortunately my coach (who I trust the most) lives in Arizona and I only get about a 2 months of solid coaching before the season starts.  I can't wait to start again.

My summer league with my son starts next month and we'll be throwing matching plastic balls, and my Sport league starts Monday.  That's going to be a blast, hair-pulling and all
