secretary fee
« on: February 10, 2007, 02:45:32 AM »
Fellow bowlers.
What do you think is a fair fee for a league secretary
to charge? I bowl in a non sanctioned senior mixed league
and the fee is .50 per bowler per night. This comes out
to $1030.00 per year.We pay a league fee of $7.00 per week.
What does your league charge?
Thanks for any input.

Each of my leagues pay the Secretary .50cents per bowler per night. Now one league the center takes care of all the money, awards, league sheets, ect... Now I do not think that we should be paying this person anything.

Another league the secretary does everything. He takes care of the awards, league sheets and helps with the money. He deserves the money he is paid.

The last league the secretary does very little. He prints out the league sheets since it is already in the computer. But does not do it in a timely manner, he might do it that night or wait till the next Thursday when he comes in and then does it. He holds checks for weeks and sometimes months before depositing them. He does not make nightly deposits with the league money like he should. So I do not think he needs any money for the little he does.

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE, ONSLAUGHT, REVS, FLIP & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

In my area (long Island), I would guess that most league secy's charge between $.035 and $0.45 per person, per week. Just remember that I bowl in big money men's league's that these bowlings really don't care about a $.040 secy fee when they pay $35 a week to bowl and another $20 on side pots.  The treasurer usually charges a little less.  Is this secy doing both jobs? If yes, I think it's fair. It's alot of work and they do need a program and computer to run the league correctly. If the house is running the league, than your bowling fees would probally go up to $7.50 a week anyway.

On the Wednesday night league I Bowl on we pay .60 or .65 per bowler for 24  3 man team. Roughly 76 dollars a week which I think is way too high as the secretary gets more than 1st place ?????

Our league pays 50 cents per week per bowler. The secretary does everything - scores, sheets, money, awards, etc.
If she makes enough $$ to cover her bowling (which is always interrupted because she's the secretary), and the cost of the software she uses for the job, I'm more than happy.

I understand, however, that the USBC is going to be insisting that secretaries get 1099s for thier work - so the money can be taxed.

Maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, but if any one thinks their  league secretary is making too much, run for the job, and try doing the job while trying to bowl !!!!!!!!

My wife is the Secretary for 2 leagues we are in, she gets $.65 per bowler per week. I did her job of 2 weeks when her sister died, TRUST ME !!! it's a lot of work for not a lot of pay. Sure it looks big, but the work vs. the pay, well below poverty level, IMO.

I have a new found respect for any League Secretary.

I don't mind paying the money as long as they do their job. When the house runs the league, I have to tell them when someone is due an award. Otherwise, good luck getting it. I still have a 100 pins over watch that I never received. I had to do it again in another league to finally get one. A good secy will put in for all awards earned without even asking.

We pay a flat fee at the start of the league.  Most Hdcp laegues are around $10/bowler, scratch leagues are up to arounf $15.

I run a Youth/Adult league, and have for several years, and don't charge anything. The league votes it in at the first meeting, and I turn it down to allow extra in the prize fund for the kids trophies. 12 teams this season, the President, and Vice President are always different people, but yet the same they don't have to do anything.
