how was this ball even able to be thrown unless person used it for single pin spares


I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

Saw a ball like this at my drillers shop. I think it was shared by a husband and wife. Seems pretty silly if you ask me.

I've got one in the shop with more holes it it than that.  I've used it for sample grips for customers that aren't sure if they want to try a fingertip grip.  Punch the holes for their grip and let them throw it.  It doesn't make any difference if it rolls over holes or if the statics are legal, or even how it rolls.  I wouldn't waste a slug and finger grips, though.  --  JohnP

Since I can't get the link to open because of internet filters at work, I take it is the grip with two thumbholes?
 
If so, that is called a Lastowski grip. Mike Lastowski out of the MD area won the Masters in the early 80's with this grip. Seen a guy who had one back in the day and occasionally pulled it out to throw. He said at that time, it was unique and did actually work on occasion.
