The imfamous 292 game???
« on: January 04, 2004, 03:31:46 AM »
I was told by someone that usually knows what he's talking about that at no time in the history of modern day bowling has anyone ever shot a sanctioned 292 game. Is this true? Where would I go to read up on it?

#1bucsfan--Few years back maybe 10 or so....there was a write up in the ABC magazine about scoring achievements.  I seem to remember at that time there were 8 all time in ABC/WIBC records.  I could be wrong but that number sticks in my head. As, odd as it seems it can be done and I have knocked two pins out of a full rack.  For a right hander clip the ten off a full rack and the 10 pin rebounds off the pit wall and takes out the seven.  Seven falling into the left channel leaves 8 pins.  This is basically how you make the 7-10.  I have made the 7-10 4 times in my bowling career and we are talking sanctioned not practice games.

You ask well how can a guy that has 11 in a row in the 1-3 roll a ball that far outside to just clip the 10.  Bowling on a reverse block where there is an OB outside of ten....get a lil tentative on your release open up shoulders and skid one out on the OB and it keeps going right.  That's basically how.

On any of these weird achievements it is easier the more sanctioned leagues & tourneys you bowl.  I am 55 so count all the games I have bowled and figure the chances.  Your odds go way up.  Back in the day I bowled 5-6 leagues a week.

I believe if you call  Cheryl Warzinski at (414) 423-3220 at Bowling Hdgrs.  She may be able to tell you ot can find out how many 292's.  She's in charge of the Awards program.

Hope this helps,

Had a guy in league last year, have 11 in a row, big carry bowler that if he gets lined up will strike any where on the head pin.  Totally dialed in and decides to go for the 292.

Already had about 4 300s in 2 leagues in the half!
Moved way left, flung it just about in gutter came back and nicked the head pin and left the weak 10 pin!

Just shows how easy it was for him to strike.

Me I was totally disgusted with the whole affair!  In retrospect still am!
