Plug material
«

Sometime in the not too distant past we had a discussion about plugging material and xlug making material on here. I am trying to find that discussion or get new ideas for a quick setting plug material to be used for making slugs that has a longer shelf life than Ultimate or can be purchased in smaller quantity than a 2gal kit at one time. Any info on what other people are using would be helpful.

Wizzard is the best. I know you said you didn't want Ultimate but there is nothing else on the market that holds up or works as well as Wizzard when it comes to making thumb inserts and slugs. The other stuff just ends up chipping and breaking.

Perhaps you can make a deal with a local shop to split the cost and the plug material so it doesn't get old. I did that. Even without the pumps, its not that hard to measure it 1-1.

I have found the Master stuff to be the best.. hardens in about 10 minutes, so is much quicker than the wizzard stuff if you want to drill a few balls all with the same slug.. it also comes in much smaller quantities.

He doesn't want ordinary plug, he wants plug to make slugs and inserts with. You need a quick plug that is durable to do that. Regular plug number 1 takes too long to cure and number 2 is not durable when making slugs/inserts for thumbs.

I was at the pro shop yesterday and one of the things that we were discussing were materials to make thumb molds out of. I was told that the reason they don't use Wizard was because it leaked oil once the mold was made and it was very difficult to get tape to stick to them.
Pro Edge Bowling Products makes both the custom thumb materials as well as a new plug they have which is workable in 30 to 45 minutes. You can find info here:
