Bowling Arsenal of Different Brands
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:52:52 AM »
I am putting together a 6-ball tournament arsenal for this coming year and I would like your input. I am a Tweener, 14-15 mph, 5 1/2" --> 1" up PAP, and 215 average.

C300 Pure Physics -- Heavy oil
Hammer Taboo -- Medium-Heavy patters
Ebonite Mission -- I can use this on everything
Rotogrip Nomad Dagger (Hybrid to blend over/under)
Hammer Midnight Vibe (Medium - Light)
Spare Ball

I would appreciate if you can see any gaps in this type of arsenal. I am willing to try all of the brands and already have the Pure Physics and Mission.

Thanks

If you run into a true dry condition, the Vibe will be too much ball. You might want to look at something urethane in that slot instead. Maybe the avalanche urethane would give you a better option.

You could keep the Midnight for lighter oil and use a urethane for truely dry and spares.

What about a MoJave or Slingshot up there on top just below the spare ball.  You need something for some truly dry lanes....you could use the mission or the hybrid on medium lights.

It is possible to hedge your bets too much to one side or the other.

Most of this list is on the strong side, though a few are versitle.  Be careful of going from really strong to really weak...its a long way down.

I like the top 3, might see a little overlap with some of them though.

My thoughts woutl be:

P Phys - hvy
Mission - med/hvy
hyroad/920t/505t - med
2fast/trop heat prl/505a - med/dry
300c/natural - dry
spare

Brent,

I currently use
Pure Physics - medium heavy-heavy oil (ball has been money in a doubles league)
RG Grand Illusion - medium oil
Midnight Vibe - medium light-medium
300C - light to medium light

For true toasted/dry lanes from my experience you will need to make a step into a urethane ball as even the 300C with control drill can be too much.

Good luck!
