Anybody ever heard of oil patterns named after cities??
« on: May 05, 2011, 02:30:55 AM »
Since the PBA is charging $300 for licensing fees, our league switched to these patterns and I've never heard of them. I don't recall all of the, but we bowled on something call the "Bejing" pattenr last noght which was 33' of light oil..

Any help we be apprecaited!!

I called the USBC to get some more information on the oil volumes.  Here's what they said.

Sydney: 33', 21.8 mL

Stockholm: 34', 23.44 mL, similar to Cheetah

Beijing: 35', 22.99 mL, like Cheetah, but with more oil outside

Los Angeles: 36', 25.5 mL, plays tricky

Atlanta: 38', 22.23 mL, plays soft

Seoul: 39', 24.99 mL, plays tricky

Athens: 40', 23.4 mL, playable, 3:1 ratio

Montreal: 41', 23.9 mL

Tokyo: 43', 24.6 mL

London: 44', 23.36 mL, like old Shark

Mexico: 45', 21.8 mL, try to stay  around 5-10, middles break down fast and hard

Paris: 47', 17.88 mL, like old 50' TOC pattern

IIRC, sydney 33ft is about 1.25:1 ration, so is almost completely flat, and you really need to have your ball at the 2 board at the break point to have the "correct" line to strike... practise only on that pattern for a few months and you'll know what accuracy is! :)

Bowled the Stockhom patten last night and shot: 189. 175. 169. 193..

Used the Slingshot and played the dry..

F!!! These are tough to hit..

Yet, we have some guys tearing these patterns apart! The guy next to me was using a Mutant Cell down 15 and shot 905 for 4..
