Bowling bags?
« on: January 04, 2011, 11:11:32 AM »
I have a question for you all.  I am in the market for a new bag and instead of trying to keep a 2 ball bag and carry my 3rd ball in an extra box or sling, I want to get at least a 3 ball roller.  What's the deal with these bags with the see thru window?  I know they're designed for airline travel, but how do they hold up?  I see they are cheaper in price which of course caught my eye, but is it the standard you get what you pay for?  Just curious about your success or failure stories on them and any recommendations you all might have.  And if any of you sellers have a deal on a 3 ball bag you want to throw at me, shoot me a message!  :)  Thanks BR family!

The totes, as they are called, have no handle and are created to make sure it is as lightweight as possible to fit airline restrictions with three 15 pound balls inside. They don't have a shoe compartment, but when I made mine, I definitely missed the handle 3 ball rollers come with. For me, the my 3 ball roller lasted longer than my 3 ball tote, just because of the abuse it received. You get what you pay for.

I have one of those 3 ball totes. Use it only for airline travel. Have a 3 ball roller that I used as a suitcase. So once I get to the event just transfer the balls over. The tote holds up ok but if you are planning on useing it for more than just travel best get a roller.

Yeah, I 'm going to be using this for back and forth to league weekly and on the 1-2 days I go practice a week.

I have a 4 ball roller but thought it was a PITA when trying to roll around a crowd.switched to a 2 ball roller with a joey for a spare ball and it's much better.a team mate of mine just picked up a Storm 3 ball tourney bag with wheels and shoe compartment for 65 bucks.nice and thin and holds everything you need.

If your car or truck has a high lift over ledge, it can be become quite annoying to lift all a 3 ball roller into and out of the vehicle every time, before and after bowling and before leaving the house and after returning. Especially after a long day at work or a long night of bowling. If you leave your balls in your vehicle, then less of a problem.

I have 3 of the Vise Tournament totes with 2 of them having the shoe compartment that clips to the top of the bag.  I used this to go to Nationals last year.  Since then I just use them to start my equipment at the lanes as I work there and just switch out to double totes.  I do use them when I travel for tournaments as like mentioned before they are lightweight and have a shoulder strap if you want to see how strong you are...hehe.  What I have done recently is buy a two ball tote plus, the KR brand, that has the big compartment on the side for your shoes.  I dont carry any balls in this bag...I carry my shoes inside where the balls would go.  The shoe bag that you get when you buy 3G tour ultras fits in there great and in the side compartment where your shoes would go I keep my two small accessory bags for my tapes, slide soles and heels, extra IT thumbs, etc.  This way all my stuff is in one bag and all my other bags just hold my balls.  This might be a way to go if you just wanted to buy a 3 ball tote.  This works for me and some of my friends as well.

Good luck

I've been using the Vise 3 Ball Tote for 2+ years now with no damage or issues.  They are a bit more unweildy than the regular 3 ball bags but take up less space and since I live upstairs and climb the stairs with another Visionary 2 Ball Pro Tote with shoe compartment on the side made by KR.  I appreciate the light weight.  This allows me to take one spare ball and 4 strike balls.

I will say the Storm 3 Ball Tourney Bag did not hold up well.  Plastic bottom runners broke not well built like the Vise 3 ball tote.

I didnt think about it being much harder to manuver.  Maybe I should look for a 2 ball bag with an actual joey for my other ball.  I could fill a 6 ball bag, but rarely ever pull out that many balls in a night.  So I dont need anything that big.  I guess it's weighing pros and cons.  I appreciate y'alls help.  There's the 3 ball tourney "tote" or whatever w/ shoe compartment on ebay for 52 bucks shipped right now, but it's got the clear window things and I know they have been out for a while now, just didnt know the life expectancy of them.  Still havent heard from anyone on here that has a deal on these things, which is cool, but figured I'd ask.
