Shoes?

How important are shoes to your game?  I notice alot of the more "serious" guys all wear some form of the dexter SST's i beleive they are.  I myself wear some oldschool kick's that belonged to my dad, there comfortable, and dont bother me.  They actually look like bowling shoes, and not a pair of Nikes or something too.

How essental are your shoes to your game?

Very critical, especially if you bowl in different centers and find that the approaches are not he same.  Any serious bowler needs to have the best equipment possible, and that include shoes.

Point taken, im currently shoe shopping... my dad wants his shoes back.

Im lookin at the dexter SST1's i dont really wanna break the break the bank on a pair of bowling shoes, i see them listed at like 75 bux + shipping.  Anyone seen them cheaper?  Or any of you guys offer them at a better price shipped?

The prices are a wee bit lower but i still have to factor in .06% sales tax, cuz i live in michigan.    Thats a little far from my area too.

Hi Moe, I'm very new to bowling but I find myself hooked even though I stink.  I'm the kind of guy that feels you have a better chance enjoying and improving yourself with a particular sport if you buy quality equipment.  I'm not saying that you should go out and buy the most expensive stuff; just quality.  With that in mind, I decided to purchase a pair of SST6 LX. Major sticker shock, so I kept my eye out for a deal on eBay.  I found one I could live with (80 bucks), and I just love the shoes.  My suggestion would be to check out what the sellers have on eBay.  Good luck.

Thanks boss, i have no ebay account...  But i think my sister does!!!  I like the look of the SST1's i think im gonna get them, they look to be the entry level "preformance shoe" from dexter.

Check w2ith Lefty Hi-Trak (I think that's the right name) - he quite often has really good pricing on last year's styles in dexters. I've bought 2 pair from him - one I wear all the time, and a second for when these give out - since I know I'll never see 'em at that price again.

and - I would highly recommend the SST Vs instead of 1s - and here's why - if you step in something you can change your sole. Easily. I've done that a couple of times now, and instead of having to throw the shoes out, or finish a set in a house shoe, I can change my sole and get back on the lanes.  

Also - one night I bowled on a pair where the majority of the approaches were fine - but the spot where I needed to slide to pick up a 10 pin was so slippery I could barely stand up. quick change to the less slippery sole for my 10 pins, and I had the advantage back. Well worth it.

be careful, just because you have high preformance equipment, doesn't mean you are a high preformance bowler. Sure, if you have great equipment and a decent amount of experience then you are better off. But, you should work your way up to the top and learn all the basics first.

Footwork is the foundation for good bowling, and IMHO good bowling shoes are worth their weight in gold.

Footing and a consistent slide make a major difference.  I've been a big Lind's fan for years due to the construction of the shoes.  They tend to last a long time and wear well.  I put a Dr. Scholl's sport insole in them and they are very comfortable.  There are many bowlers that are wearing SST6's and even ABS' that use our product with them!  Having the proper surface for the condition is very important.  I would absolutely make sure that I got a raised heal regardless.  That is on of the most important things about shoes.  The slide sole surface and the heal.

Thanks for all the replys people.  Still undecided on what pair i will be getting, but i will deffinetly need to lookinto this a bit more.

I think these old boys i have need to be replaced.
