Shooting Spares

Is there a chart that I can use as a guide line for shooting single pin spare with a plastic ball? Something that will tell me where to stand and what mark I should hit in reference to the single pin I’m shooting for.

Don't know if this is the sort of thing that you're looking for, but a while back, there was a Rolf Gauger column in Bowling This Month describing the spare-shooting system that he teaches.  This spare system specifies starting points on the approach to be used for the key pins for right- and left-side spares, but is predicated on the bowler's ability to throw a straight ball at spares.  I don't recall the exact details, but I could try to dig up the article if you like.

Why not just make your own?  Next time you are practicing throw the spare ball straight and write down were you stood and where the ball went.

Personally, I throw all right side spares off the middle arrow and left side spares off the 10 board.  I like the 10 board because the angle works well for me when converting both the 1-2-10 and the 2-7.  I use the middle arrow for right side spare because statistically speeaking it gives the most room for error on the 10 pin conversion.
