Okay...Storm's Crux is getting alot of Hype?
« on: October 21, 2014, 01:14:39 PM »
I might have to retract my previous post about this ball. When I was at the lanes last night, I heard more conversations on that ball than I have heard on any other ball in years.

Storm maybe onto something

I'm not really sure where it's coming from or how it's getting around but I've heard a lot of buzz from people about it too.  Normally high end releases don't get a whole lot of attention here, but I've already sold 2 of them and don't expect the 3rd one I have coming to last long.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I wasn't impressed at the recent matchmaker demo I went to.  BUT, that probably has more to do with the layout and surface not matching up with my speed dominant, high tracking release.

On the "House" pattern that was put out, the best look I had was straight up the 13-14 board at the arrows with a little snap at the end.

I'm sure with a stronger layout and a low balance hole along with surface I could get a better look.  I guess I was just expecting "hook in a box" lol.

Wonder how much of it is due to the Food on a Lane video?

I went to a demo day today and used the Crux.  For my speed dominate, low rev release it was okay, but not a big hook ball.  The other people there with a lot more revs than me thought it hooked much more than anything else they had or used in the demo.

Not sure why it's getting so much hype, either. Mo Pinel has been putting voids in his cores for years now. This is not new technology!

Storm is a little late to the table if you ask me. IJS!!

its because theyre are marketing geniuses. they make an asymetrical core that is less tunable and therefore harder to put a bad layout match on for bowlers and call it breakthrough technology and since most bowlers dont know diddly squat about bowling balls they believe it. they get to be more inconsistent and still get the same ball reaction

It seems "hype" comes standard with each new Storm release, regardless of what it is.  ::)

I haven't thrown the Crux yet. That will have to wait a few weeks until a local Demo Days next month. But I did watch a Storm staffer with 400+ revs throw the Crux in league last week.

On the surface, it reacted like most aggressive high-end asymmetrics I've seen. There wasn't a "wow" moment where I felt I had to have that ball right now. Maybe I'll feel different after I get a chance to try it myself.

Storm has had an INSANE marketing campaign with this ball from what I have seen. Market the ball right and people will come. Have Pro's endorse the ball and people will come.
