Ball choice

If you had to pick a ball to battle Guardian Synthetic overlay on the heads and a generally drier pattern, what ball would you pick? I've looked at the purple Hammer Vibe, AMF300 OrbitExtreme, Brunswick Power Groove DryR and Tropical Storm. I can't decide and would like some input.

I like the Venus better than the Neptune.

Mine clears the heads easily on even light oil and the 1% particle load seems to make the backend strong but smooth, allowing it to battle some of the eventual carrydown that Guardian ALWAYS gives you. The Neptune is much more skid/snappy and will not fight the carrydown as well.

I bowl a league every Summer on a Guardian overlay for the first 30 feet and pine backend for the last 30 feet. The guy who oils it takes VERY good care of it compared to a place I bowled regularly 5 years ago whioch had 60 feet of Guardian. That place was a nightmare. YOu moved 15 boards with your feet eveyr night and STILL fought major carrydown problems.

It all depends on who takes care of the lanes and how they do it. During the summer we get some carrydown, but it always seems playable with small moves as the 3 game set progresses.

Addendum: I am alos using a Hornet; not enough games yet for a review. It seems to be a good ball for this also, but it handles more dry than even the Venus. Backend is arc-y, not skid/snap. It is less snappy than the Neptune. On the down side, it is not a cheap ball.
