Well that happened to the team I was bowling against. This team crushed the first two games. Third Game they had a considerable lead (I think it was 170) after 8 frames. Well their anchor gets up in the 9th frame proceeds to leave a 7 pin. Instead of going after it his normal way...he thought he try to stand far left (next to the gutter) throw the ball to right gutter and get the pin.

Well it didn't make it. My teammate and I strike out in the 9th and 10th frames to beat them by 12.

Eventhough we lost two for the night that last game was a sweet win.

A guy I was bowling against in a final of a local tournament did the same kind of thing. I was behind by 41 in the 5th - he was hitting high and crumbling splits, and carrying brooklyn. I was hitting flush, but leaving corners. I was able to stay in my game, and not worry about him.
He finally left a big 4 - decided to show off and try to make it - missed all of 'em. Then he got frantic, and left a couple more opens. I finally started carrying, and beat him for the game, match, and tournament win.

He was so angry that a "girl" beat him, he never came back to the tournament group.
