silly amf house
« on: February 25, 2012, 07:56:55 AM »
So this lady that works at this amf house knows I bowl leagues but assumes I bowl in this particular house. Well, I don't, just 3 leagues in a Brunswick house. So she asks if I'm a league bowler. I said yes. I bowled my 10 games and at the end she wanted to see my card. So I got out my sanctioned USBC card out of my wallet. She says "that's only your sanctioned card I need your AMF card. I told her I don't have one. At this point it's I'm going to pay league fees or walk out and pay nothing but she did what I told her and received league rates.
I don't give a damn about AMF's policies. There should be a discount across all bowling alleys nationwide if you have a sanctioned USBC card you should get the houses league rate. Wtf is the point of the card otherwise. Don't tell me I need a credit card plastic size card in my wallet just for the member number. If USBC had any balls which they don't, they would enforce this mandate on all houses or the houses would be disqualified from having sanctioned leagues!

Sorry....  couldn't resist.

I don't think it's the AMF house that is being silly on this one.

I bowl in several bowling leagues at multiple houses.... Brunswick and AMF, and it's very clear to me when asked if I am a league bowler that they mean at THEIR house.

You MIGHT have a point about a universal discount for sanctioned bowlers being worth consideration. but the rest of your post just makes you look silly.

I find this post most humorous.  The poster answered what the person at the desk asked.  It does not appear they were an*l enough to ask if they bowl in a league at THEIR center.  You may want to contact all the bowling centers in your area that you don't bowl league in to advise them to be an*l enough to ask their patrons if they are a league bowler at their center so you and they have an understanding.

Most any house refers to their house in reference to getting a league rate. USBC could care less what you think they should do and are not going to tell other business owners how to run their business. Id find the story more interesting if you walked out and the lady had your info to get a report for theft of services and had a warrant issued. Thats sweet revenge for someone who thinks that they are better then they really are. Or if they refused your services anytime you came back to the center.

If you walked into my shop and asked for a league discount....and I gave it to you thinking you bowled on Sunday, the night I wasn't open, and then I found out you bowled somewhere else....and then you refused to pay the regular rate.....I'd close for a few minutes so I could beat your face in....

Speaking as of late.  What exactly is USBC doing anyway?

You're an idiot at best, and a scam artist at worst.  The AMF center is a business there to make money, not lose it.  They honor those who patronize THEIR business weekly by bowling leagues at THEIR center with a cut in rate for practice time.  This has nothing to do with USBC, they could give a discount to league bowlers in THEIR center even if the leagues weren't USBC sanctioned.  That lady SHOULD have stood her ground and made you fork up for the full rate, so you should be thanking her for cutting you a break, not standing on your high horse and thinking they should kiss your feet because you whipped out a USBC card.  Clear enough for you?

His douchebaggery is well known, Russell. Check some of his other posts. They reek of ode de dbaggery.

And really... you tried to scam a bowling center to save a couple of bucks. Hope you slept well.  The center where I practice ask me all the time if I am on a league, and the league discount is pretty sweet. I'm honest and tell them no, because I'm not that much of a jerk.

AMF houses give the card to their league bowlers at the start of the season. The desk person is supposed to scan the card for the discounts on lineage, snack bar and such. If you don't have the card how can they scan it?

About a month ago while working the desk I asked a female customer if she bowled in any of our leagues.  (I had never seen her before.)  She said "yes" and suspecting a lie I asked her "which one?"  She answered the "Friday night one".  I told her "we don't have a Friday night league at this center" and charged her full price on everything.  She didn't even argue because she was caught and she knew it.  We can print a master list of all our league bowlers that is easy to refer to in a few seconds if needed.

People who pull out their USBC card are a dead giveaway that they don't bowl in one of our leagues. Being a sub in our leagues doesn't count either. As was mentioned earlier, houses want to reward their league bowlers for their loyalty and patronage week in and week out.

I never ask for or expect league rates at a house that I don't bowl in as a league member. It appears that the rest of the replies so far agree...

You're lucky in this case.  When I go to an AMF center, they will ask if I bowl in any of their leagues.  Knowing they mean their house, I am honest and say not at their house.

However, I usually end up with some free games and some discounted rates since my driller works in an AMF house and have supported that shop for a while now.

This is one ridiculous post.  All centers I bowl at offer discounted prices to bowlers who bowl league at their center.

I bowl in a brunswick house but they do have days during the week where it's $.99 a game that's pretty much it.

Sounds like the house I bowl at.  Twice a week, there are 99 cent games.  All other times, it's regular rates unless you are a league bowler at that house and you have the card for them to scan.  Then you get the discounted rate.

The house I bowl in its every Tuesday Wednesday Thursday saturday morning and Sunday morning. Only thing u have free everyday is if ur part of a sport shot league where 3free games a day everyday. Now u get like a weeks worth of free games instead of the whole month meaning every week u go I get that card. U only pay like $10 a week for the league not sanctioned. Just wish every league bowlers should have privilege getting discount but not all go practice that's the problem.  I don't want to join a non sanctioned league which requires u to join to get the free games unless u work at the house.
