Silly Kool-Aid
« on: September 01, 2007, 08:43:55 PM »
via lane1 forums... (btw thanks for the inbound traffic)

quote:
My question refers to the Rico drill, I know it creates a massive amount of backend - But I wanted to know if you have tried a negative CG Rico Drill? I am thinking of doing this on the Blast Zone because of the Core it has in it, but I may go with it on the Supernova...unsure which ball.

quote:
Lone concern is getting a ball with a short enough pin and getting a top weight that will avoid an axis hole being needed. This is where the rub is as nobody seems to know what would be needed

*sigh* - and this from a PBA member?!

The whole point of the RICO drill is to have the X-Hole, in this case, right on or near the Mass Bias. This SKYROCKETS the differentials because it creates the most asymmetry. Also, I must add that if you're using a ball like the Blast Zone, the CG shouldn't even be taken into account. Get the CG in the thumb/side quadrant and make your X-Hole and be done with it. But then again, with the spec-less drill instructions they provide on the layout, can't really blame you guys for being clueless, or averaging 180 in regionals.

To me that is why i think lane 1 is not with stupid brunswick. I bet they told him it wasn't worth it so he didn't patent it and thought nothing of it and they stole his idea.

This was in response to a single link on luxorbowling claiming to have insider info that the Fury core was stolen.

Yes boys n girls, everything you read on the internet is true.

While I personally think the dead horse beating is funny....

My thing is, Nick is really not that smart, he is just so damn sexy.  He is sizzle lean!!  His good looks have gotten him this far.  Between him and Tony Melendez, they are some handsome somanabeasts....  These guys shake their money maker, and chicks just lose it.... throw their panties on the stage....

I am so much smarter than both of these guys, but I'm fat, bald, ugly, and my eyes bulge out of my head, you know what they say about pet owners and their pets.  I have three Pugs, you do the math......

....back to beating horses.....

Nick,

The correct info is out there, you know it.  If people refuse to acknowledge it and want to continue to "beat the dead horse", don't let yourself be drawn into their sillyness.

If someone wants to drill a ball with a negative "RICO", let him.  That is how I gained 90% of my drilling expertise ( expertise? ha ha, silly me ), by fouling things up and having to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Man, I've messed up a lot of balls, but I've learned lessons I wil never forget.

No need to belittle those who don't get it.  Just take their contributions ( via entry fees ) and go about your business.  Beat enough of them and soon they will have to pay attention. Let them come to you, don't go to their level.

I woulda reg'd and posted there, but that would have been the same as chumming the water.

By the way, Mikey hit the nail on the head. I just sit here and look handsome, mention some big words and it works. I don't swing that way, however if I did, I'd make Mikey's eyes cross like his pugs. lol

Maybe his concern with trying a "negative Rico" layout is avoiding a weight hole on or near the track.  From all the "evidence" that has been provided, a weight hole is only about 5% of the reaction, so it's not like he'd be losing a ton, providing the new layout would be worth a hoot in general.  I haven't seen any specific data, but if you'd care to show how much the differential skyrockets by placing a weight hole on or near the mass bias, I'd be interested in seeing it.

I guess mockery is only funny if provided by a slightly more than mediocre regional player, as long as you include catchy phrases like "Kool Aid" and "zoltan!".

Yep. Just goes to prove that there are still people out there that "just throw the damn ball"

Its a shame, there is so much to know out there that can benefit your game if you just took the time to learn it.

That's what I say.  The next time I get a Rico with "massive back end" it will be the first.  HyJinx, Strike Zone, Scorchin' Inferno, La Nina, Rampage, and Eraser Particle Pearl  are all balls that I have "Rico'd".  They all were pretty rolly and smooth, very continuous back end.  I love that drill.  Very controllable.

Now the "negative" Rico, are they referring to 90 or 180 degrees from Rico.  I have drilled some balls for myself and others with the pin about 5 1/2 inches from PAP with cg in finger/negative and mass bias way up there, like a 220 degree drill?? can't remember.  Went and threw the ball and put the extra hole between the flare rings, no biggie.

BTW, "I" don't think Nick or Tony are sexy or good looking.  "I" don't swing that way, pretty hetero, just what I have witnessed.  These two are like rock stars, pretty ridiculous, unfortunately.

Nails, would be glad to next time I visit Wisconsin for BJI. I'm sure Paul would be glad to get some numbers for me on a test ball to show what I'm talkin about.

Mikey, you ever gonna call me?!?!
