« on: August 10, 2013, 01:40:16 AM »
i was wondering if any newer balls have come out with the same core or close to it,with the coverstock(powerkoil18)similar or a harder one(powerkoil17)?

Looks like the only thing with it is the now discontinued Slingshot ( Powerkoil 17).

Granted, thats assuming something else isn't the same coverstock just renamed but from what I could see that is the last thing with it.

As far as the core I don't really see anything thats very close to that core being used.

The only ball that you can still easily find NIB with a solid PK18 cover is the Karma blue/black solid. No match on the core though.

Ah knew there was another one, just couldn't think of what it was.

Actually, it's not a bad match at all, given the basic Karma core numbers, and what drillings can now do for most people, with our extended knowledge base (through the internet). The differential is close and the Karma's RG is just slightly less than the Time Zone's.

My Karma solid, drilled with pin above ring finger (60 x 4.5 x 35) is quite angular when polished and used on medium oil. I'm sure with a Motion Hole or similar, it could easily approach the Time Zone's asymmetric core.

Given that the cover and its basic properties are the most important part of a ball's reaction, I think it would be very hard to find a closer match these days.

Honestly, if you want an updated version, look at the Motiv Sigma Tour.  I had a Time Zone, loved it, and the Sigma Tour rolls just like it.  Yes, the coverstocks may be different, the core may be different, the numbers might be different, but they act very similar.
