Simple pattern for all leagues

If we went gutter to gutter, the foul lane all the way to the pin deck, USBC could decide the amount of units applied, seems to me everyone would be happy. The average league bowler would not care, and the better bowlers would like the shot. For the house it would be easy to do, since it would be a matter of running the machine from point A to point B. Just a thought!

Running the oil to the pin deck would pretty much mean the pins get covered in lane oil.  They start having trouble getting picked up and the oil gunks up the machinery.

Plus, I don't know if you've realized this, but that means no backends.  None.  Hooking the ball?  Forget it.

Depends on the bowler. The manufactured hook would be gone. Then it would come down to who the best bowler is shot after shot.

when lacquer became the finish on the lanes after the shellac era the lanes were originally oiled from the foul line to the pin deck. this created all kinds of problems like oil ending up in the gutters and in the pit. lanes in this era were not cleaned every day and the oil buildup made for malfunctions of all sorts in the pit area. it wasn't too long before the oil length was backed up to avoid these problems.

if the usbc really wanted to make a pattern for all leagues they'd be better off using a christmas tree pattern of appx. 37-38'. this type of pattern is about the fairest condition for righties & lefties and you can attack the pins from multiple angles( gutter, track, deep inside, etc. ).

To make it fair they need to limit the max amount of conditioner one could use in a pattern. The USBC has a minimum but no max. This means that a house can wall them up as much as they want. A standard pattern in personal opinion would be a bad thing. I feel that different patterns are needed, but lower the hump in the middle. The only down side is most bowlers have egos and leagues may suffer due to some lower scores, but in personal opinion a max on the conditioner would be the best way to make them fair.
